What if crime was really handled GTA style???

So say I drop a bit litter out my car, so I get one flashing star.

Without even realising it I manage to evade law enforcement to the point I get to 5 stars.

I then stop at traffic lights and a cop car pulls up along side me and pumps me full of lead.

All because I dropped a bit litter.

Thank God that's not actually how it works.

I’ve recently been playing the remastered Vice City and I’d forgotten how mental the police are in that.

2 stars and they’re doing suicide runs into you at full speed.

I've always found police in open-world games particularly aggressive, and some games are more aggressive than others in that respect. It's like they're programmed to make a beeline for you. In open-world racing games like the Need for Speed series, they seem to be ramming you so hard as to make you go flying in a ridiculous fashion. There was one NFS game, I think it was the 2013 version of Most Wanted by Criterion, and they would ram you mercilessly and I had given up on it because it had become impossible just to do simple things such as just driving around without them bothering you. Made some of the challenges that much more difficult.

In that case though, wouldn't you just have to not get caught for a little while for the star level to go to 0?

Yeah, that bugs me about that sort of game too. Hiding tactics that should work don't work because pursuers spawn out of nowhere knowing exactly where you are.

Then most of us would be dead, because the game protagonist would have slaughtered us for a giggle, been shot by police, had to pay $39 for medical treatment, and be good as new with no further consequences.
