What HORROR Movies Are You Watching For Halloween Week?

I had a zombie weekend. Rewatched season 1 of The Walking Dead, since Halloween was the show's fifth anniversary. Fun to see how much some of the characters have changed (looking at you, Carol!)

I also watched both the 1978 and 2004 versions of Dawn of the Dead for the first time. Despite a greater degree of cheesiness, the original was better. I actually cared about/liked the survivors, which I can't say about the remake. Plus, running zombies suck!

I watched The Witch (2015) which was a quite good Puritan horror story. Also Tales of Halloween which was fun, The People Under the Stairs (awesome movie by Wes Craven), The Serpent and the Rainbow (another great Wes Craven movie though slower moving), Hardware (excellent dystopian sci fi horror) and the best of all though I'm not sure you could call it horror: Turbo Kid. I saw them at a horror film festival, shameless plug :barf:but I set up a blog to write reviews of them. (Sorry about that). But yeah, I couldn't recommend Turbo Kid enough, great gore effects, apocalyptic sci fi, cheesy, humourous, set in 1997, 80s nostalgia etc.

I'll have to track down Tales of Halloween. I love anthology movies. The premise sounds similar to Trick'r'Treat.

I haven't seen Trick or Treat, I have seen Creepshow, Waxwork and Chillerama, if you like those films then you will probably enjoy Tales of Halloween. It has Adriene Barbeau in it as the radio dj, it's basically a fun/humourous anthology with plenty of gore and jokes. The ones with the witch and the alien were the best in my opinion.

I love the original Creepshow. I'm not familiar with Waxwork, and something tells me I didn't like Chillerama, but I'm not sure.

Tales of Halloween doesn't seem to be on DVD, but can be rented or bought through Amazon Prime.
