What historical figures should Moffat/Smith meet?

I'd like to see the Doctor meet John Lennon.
There is a photograph of Lennon posing with a Dalek prop in the early '60s, during the Beatlemania days.

The Beatles were written into "The Chase," but filming didn't work with their schedules.

Amelia Earhardt.

There's a movie starring Hilary Swank coming out soon so I could seem them not going that route for that alone, sadly.

Amelia Earhardt.
I'll have to dig out my copy of The nth Doctor to make sure, but I'm pretty sure that she was going to be the companion in one of the Johnny Byrne-written films of the late '90s.

You are correct!

I'd like to see the Doctor meet John Lennon.

Seems like someone the Fourth or Tenth would get along well with.

Yeah, I saw the trailer for that. Looks like it'll be good.

However, I don't necessarily see why that film's release would prevent Moffat and company from using Earhardt. *shrug*

I've heard of things like that in the past. Not with Who, but other productions. "Confusion in the market" or some other BS.

^^^ Doesn't stop stuff like "Armageddon" and "Deep Impact" coming out at the same time, or Asylum from bringing out gems like "Transmorphers" or "Snakes on a Train".

Oh! The tenth Doctor and Donna go and watch the Beatles in the Cavern Club in "The Time of My Life," the last Donna story in Doctor Who Magazine.

Donna gets John Lennon to autograph her copy of the 1 CD. Not that Lennon would have had any idea what it was.

I'd like to think that post-"Journey's End," Donna still has that souvenir from Liverpool.

Oh for sure, in the past decade there has been the "asteroid" phase, the "volcano" phase and even a quick little "magician" phase (The Illusionist and The Prestige came out close together). Just saying I've heard that used as an excuse before elsewhere. As far as The Asylum is concerned, though, they actually bank on the confusion. Note the box art and names will often be very alike, but the films themselves have almost nothing in common with their box office big brother.

 Signing a copy of 1, nice.

How about King Tut. Maybe we could see that aliens were involved with the construction of the Pyramids. We have already had aliens at Pompeii.

Anyone else annoyed that every major advance in human history was down to bloody aliens?

Yes, actually. I want a pure historical! :p

Yeah I agree, don't see why there have to be aliens every week in Who, featuring historical rather than extraterrestrial villains could pep the show up a bit...not saying all the time, or even every season, but surely aliens haven't visited every Earth era?!
