What happened to...?

Hasn't there been rumours knocking around about a sequel to the original Stargate movie being in the works? Just to be clear, I'm refering to a sequal with Russel, Spader and a total lack of anything SG1.

I wish they would have done that but I think the time has passed. I'd love to see a loose sequel/new trilogy starring Hugh Jackman as O'Neil and Justin Long as Daniel Jackson... but I'm probably alone in that. ;)

Love to see a Silent Hill 2. Preferably based on the plot of the game of the same name

I'd agree on the concept, but not on the casting. Ugh. I'd be happy if I never again saw Justin Long in anything.

I wouldn't mind more:

Babylon 5
Blade
Chronicles of Riddick
Constantine
Farscape
Firefly
Independence Day
Jumper
Tomb Raider

Some of these I thoroughly agree on. The ending of The Chronicles of Riddick left open some very interesting sequel possibilities.

Constantine was a great movie and I'd definately line-up for Constantine II.

From what I've heard, Independence Day II was DOA after Will Smith refused to do it.

Tomb Raider was one of the franchises that Paramount recently suggested they'd be looking into doing direct to video sequels of. I'd like to see them go ahead with that (along with Cruise-less Mission Impossible movies and DVD Star Trek movies that bring back the 24th century casts while J.J. Abrams focuses on his big screen epic with Pine & Quinto as Kirk & Spock).

It'd be cool to see that long-rumored/wished-for Breakfast Club follow-up. All the roles are reversed: the geek is now a rich stud, the athlete works with his mind, the punk is an office drone in a dry spell, the princess has a princess of her own to deal with and the weirdo is... well, maybe she can still be weird. A plot would be tricky, though. Maybe it'd be five different movies in one and they wouldn't come together until a high school reunion at the end.

I've always wanted to see them do a sequel to Super Mario Bros. Men in Black, Tomb Raider, and ID4 also come to mind as warranting a sequel or another sequel.

I've heard Vin Diesel was going to make another Riddick movie.

Correction. Vin Diesel wants to make another Riddick movie. Not the same thing as Vin Diesel has a good script, funding and is going to make another Riddick movie.
After Babylon A.D. (I'm assuming it didn't do well based on the lack of news) I'd be very surprised if he's able to get anything above b-movie genre work and Fast & Furious sequels for the next few years. A shame because he's really good when given the right role...though I dare say he could do with a supporting role for a change.

I've heard that there was more to the story of the Fifth Element and plans were underway with that. But that was years ago.

According to David Twohy, the next Riddick movie would be a B-movie. In retrospect, he says that smallness was one of the reasons why Pitch Black worked so well and that The Chronicles of Riddick struggled because it was trying to be something it's not-- a family friendly PG-13 tentpole film instead of an intense R-rated niche film.

Not sci-fi/fantasy movies, but I've always been surprised that no sequel was ever made for the Mel Gibson/Richard Donner Maverick (especially as all involved have stated repeatedly how much they enjoyed doing the original one) or the Samuel L. Jackson Shaft. Both seemed ready-made for being a franchise.

Not a sequel, but The Black Hole is one of the few movies that needs to be remade so it can be done properly this time...
