What happened to the other scientists on the Cube?

They weren't integral to the story, so they were forgotten. Just like every younger sibling in a sitcom family when the writers realize there isn't anything they can do with that character.

And really, the only reason they existed was to give Soji an excuse to be on the Artifact.

Another plot hole. The more I think about season one as a whole, the more I'm realising it was barely a step up from Discovery in the writing department. If at all.

I was also wondering about Narek at the end of the season. They brushed over him too. (Apparently, it sounds like he's coming back in season 2, though, so it might get cleared up then, but that's a large hole to leave unaddressed.)

Narek's storyline, just like the Borg plot, didn't really go anywhere. Like they ran out of ideas during their "throw everything at the board and see what sticks" brainstorming.

To give the writer's some credit, considering we now know (thanks to Chabon) there were final scenes which explained what happened to Narek and the XBs which were edited out, they may have actually shot a scene or two which explained this, only to cut them as "extraneous."

I don't get it. Why doesn't it make sense?

In terms of evolution, something like the Trill spots almost certainly were selected for for some sort of social signaling - probably to mates. Brown spots are easy to see on pale skin - not easy to see on dark skin.

Ok. I'm just thinking of how coloring/melanin works in humans and darker people just have more melanin so their spots are just darker. I would think what ever the mechanism it would be same across the species.
