What happened to the Enterprise-B?

Christopher said:
In fact, the Enterprise-B fell through a spacewarp into the Delta Quadrant, where it was assimilated and turned into the flagship of the Borg's controlling intelligence. From that point on, it was the Queen-B.

Then it was rescued by a wizard and became the Spelling-B.

Crap I can't come up with a good B joke. :brickwall: :brickwall:

As for Tino's question, yeah Demora became Captain of the B in Serpents Among the Ruins.

Let's just hope it doesn't go out of phase and join with the Enterprise-C, because they we'd get the BC.

At which point Picard shows up fresh from the timewarp in First Contact to chide them for their lack of scientific accuracy in dating: it'll be the Enterprises BCE.

Fictitiously yours, Trent Roman

I'm surprised that this hasn't come up yet as a throwaway line or an actual story. Does nobody care about the Harriman/Sulu days?
Considering that the Harriman/Sulu days have been the subject of two novels and one short story, I'd say yeah, somebody cares. :)

Just nobody's told the "final" story yet....

Besides Serpents Among the Ruins, what's the other novel you're referring to?

Didn't I read somewhere that one of the recent novels implied that the reason the Enterprise name was unused for so long between the destruction of the -C and the launch of the -D was out of respest for the -C, because she was the only Enterprise to ever be destroyed with all hands?

So that would imply something about the final end of the -B.

I don't think that was ever stated overtly, but it's what I always assumed, yes.

And one of the excerpts posted here...
from that new TNG collection of stories, can't remember which, is taking place at the launch of the Enterprise-D. The admiral in charge asks for a moment of silence to remember the loss of the C's crew. I viewed that as just one more confirmation that this is why 20 years went by before another ship with that name was built: Starfleet intentionally delayed using the name Enterprise out of respect for the deaths of the C's crew.

As for the B jokes: Meh. It's not that big of a deal. Definitely not very sh'oqing.

it's been a while, but it's still as good as new:

As Rosalind correctly surmised, the other novel is The Captain's Daughter by Peter David. The short story is, of course, "Iron and Sacrifice" by DRG3 in Tales from the Captain's Table.

In terms of short stories, there's also "Shakedown" in Enterprise Logs, though it basically just features Harriman himself, with minimal involvement from the ship and other crew.

Which was the short story I thought of. I didn't even think of "Iron and Sacrifice." :o

Thanks, Rosalind and KRAD. The Captain's Daughter is actually the next Trek story I will read after I catch up with the 2007 offerings.

EDIT: Fixed formatting. An "I" in place of a "B" can make the whole post look wacky.
