Two different tribbles. The one on his desk still showed up after episode 4.It was dissected by episode 4.
It traveled back in time to the 20th century and started living on top of the head of a certain businessman who later became President of the United States.

After Lorca's death, the tribble in a fit of sadness went searching for him. It's currently in the air ducts wandering around, the crew is slightly annoyed and a little saddened everytime they hear it's now sad little purr.

now that you say that.. that Gorn skeleton might not have been for study, it might have been leftovers.
In fact, the very reason Lorca and Georgiou had a falling out in the first place was an extremely heated dinner-table argument over whether Gorn or Kelpien tasted better in a stew.
