What for you,are the funniest moments in the 6 Star Wars films and why

Re: What for you,are the funniest moments in the 6 Star Wars films and

"Apology accepted, Capt. Needa."

Who said Vader didn't have a sense of humor?

"I thought these things smelled bad on the outside."

In ANH, after Han shoots Greedo, he strolls to the bar and tosses the bartender a coin. "Sorry for the mess."

Re: What for you,are the funniest moments in the 6 Star Wars films and

Here's some of my favorite stuff from the Prequels:
* The gag in TPM involving Jar Jar and the giant 'Boomas' where they chase him down the hill (it's pure old-school silent-film slapstick comedy)

* 3PO's head being swapped with that of a battle droid, and the comedy that results (I particularly love Anthony Daniels' delivery of the line 'die Jedi dogs', and the line 'I'm quite beside myself', which is funny because it's a little bit of 'tongue-in-cheek/ironic' humor)

* Watto's reaction in AotC when he realizes that Anakin IS actually Anakin

* Yoda playfully teasing Obi-Wan in front of the Younglings in AoTC ('Lost a planet Master Obi-Wan has; how embarrassing'; it's a really great foreshadowing/call-back to the playful 'facade' that he puts up in TESB when Luke first meets him)

Now here's some of my favorite stuff from the 'OT':
* Leia calling Han a 'stuck-up, half-witted scruffy-looking nerfherder'

* Threepio yelling at Artoo in TESB when the Falcon is fleeing from Bespin

* Yoda's playful antics in TESB (especially him whacking Artoo with his walking stick)

* Han's reaction to Wicket jumping on the speeder bike and making the Scout Troopers chase him

Re: What for you,are the funniest moments in the 6 Star Wars films and

A lot of lines in the original trilogy work so well because of Harrison's delivery.

"I used to live here, you know."
"You're gonna die here, you know. Convenient."

That's by far my favorite exchange in Star Wars.

Re: What for you,are the funniest moments in the 6 Star Wars films and

That moment in Revenge of the Sith, when Yoda comes into Palpatine's office and the red guards face him, and he casually uses a force-push to knock them into the wall.

It makes us smile.

Re: What for you,are the funniest moments in the 6 Star Wars films and

I always liked this one:

Han Solo: Uh, everything's under control. Situation normal.
Voice: What happened?
Han Solo: Uh, we had a slight weapons malfunction, but uh... everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here now, thank you. How are you?
Voice: We're sending a squad up.
Han Solo: Uh, uh... negative, negative. We had a reactor leak here now. Give us a few minutes to lock it down. Large leak, very dangerous.
Voice: Who is this? What's your operating number?
Han Solo: Uh...
[Han shoots the intercom]
Han Solo: [muttering] Boring conversation, anyway.

Re: What for you,are the funniest moments in the 6 Star Wars films and

Whiny Luke is pretty funny:
"But I was going to Tosche Station to pick up some power converters!"

Also, I always find it hilarious when Luke tries to jump in with "I care" to Leia when she's arguing/flirting with Han. Smooth.

Re: What for you,are the funniest moments in the 6 Star Wars films and

In Empire, there is the scene where we see an asteroid destroy the bridge tower of a Star Destroyer. Then they cut to a "conference call" of holographic Captains, one of them raises his arms as if to ward something off, and then his hologram fades out. I always laugh when I see that.:guffaw:

Re: What for you,are the funniest moments in the 6 Star Wars films and

^^^I never found that funny, but I loved that bit of detail. I thought it really made that universe come alive.
uh, you know, as that guy died...

Re: What for you,are the funniest moments in the 6 Star Wars films and

Han's antagonism to 3PO in Empire, especially when Han raises a finger to him.
Han's interruption of him in Jedi.
3PO's excited interruption of the moment between Han and Leia, followed by Han's cold thank you.
3-PO's delighted "I don't think they're going to let us in" and the subsequent raising of the door.
A few Jar-Jar moments-his fainting on being named general, his surrendering.

Greedo and Capt. Needa "died" too, and the scene with Needa is one of my favorites as well, Vader had a great sense of humor.

Re: What for you,are the funniest moments in the 6 Star Wars films and

Boy, so many good scenes, so little space- but here goes, anyway...........

TPM: Obi-Wan's "short negotiations" line to Qui-Gon. Qui-Gon's "sound of a thousand bad things..." line to Jar-Jar and Obi-Wan's contribution to trying to persuade Jar-Jar to help them (he really sounded like he was channeling the late Sir Alec Guinness in that scene) Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan, and Jar-Jar's underwater trip to Theed ("There's always a bigger fish"). Jar-Jar's QUICK surrender at the end, particularly when the other Gungan facepalms. Anakin's insistence on staying in the ship at the end ("Qui-Gon told me to stay here and that's what I'm doing"- or something like that) and his "accidental" destruction of the Trade Federation flagship. Kinda corny, yeah, but still fun to watch.

AOTC: Obi-Wan and Anakin's speeder chase through Coruscant and the bar/"death sticks" scene. Yoda "teasing" Obi-Wan about "losing" Kamino. Obi-Wan's battle with Jango and Boba Fett, particularly when Obi-Wan realizes that he is going to get drug off the platform with him. Boba's rooting for his father was kind of fun-how you would expect a normal kid his age might act. Obi-Wan's reaction to Anakin Anakin's comment about them being on Geonosis to rescue him ("Oh, nice job"). I know this may sound kind of sick but I always get a kick out of Mace's swift and sudden decapitation of Jango Fett. It's just so......unexpected and Mace seems so nonchalant about it.

ROTS: Most of the opening space battle with Anakin and Obi-Wan along with R2 and his fight with the battle droids and their attempted escape (and their "happy landing") from Grievous' flagship. There are some really good scenes in the novelization of ROTS where Obi-Wan tries to convince Grievous to surrender to them when they are brought to him on the bridge. There is also a scene where Grievous brutally rips a cowardly Neimoidan in pieces when he hesitates in following his orders and a holo transmission between Grievous and Lieutenant Needa (from ESB) where they discuss his surrender. There isn't a whole lot more that happens in the movie that is "funny" per se but I did like Obi-Wan's "so uncivilized" line after blasting Grievous in the chest, killing him. Yoda decapitating the troopers sent to kill him on Kashykk and casually "force pushing" the Senate Guards in Palpatine's office was fun to watch. The verbal exchange between Yoda and Palpatine/Sidious was quite good as well. That dark part of me also derived some satisfaction at seeing Anakin/Vader casually lock all of the doors and proceed to mow down the Separatist leaders- mostly because the Separatists had been so thoroughly duped by Palpatine/Sidious that Anakin Skywalker had to have been the LAST person they ever expected walking into the control room at that point.

ANH: Too many to mention but just about any scene with the Luke, Han, Leia, et. al was priceless. The chemistry between all of them was wonderful on the Death Star. I loved the satisfaction of seeing Vader's ship getting knocked off course and sent spinning off into space by Han at the end.

ESB: All of the banter between Han and Leia and C-3PO, Luke's initial interactions with Yoda. Chewbacca angrily choking Lando once he freed them. Leia:"Oh, we understand, don't we Chewie? He had NO choice!" C-3P0: "Trust him, trust him!!"

ROTJ: Loved C-3P0 and R2-D2's journey to Jabba's palace and C-3P0's horror at discovering that Luke was offering them to Jabba in return for Han. The Sail Barge scene, particularly when Han sends Fett spiraling into the Sarlacc. I liked Han and Lando's goodbye before he left for Endor. I didn't care for most of the Ewok scenes but I liked it when Luke made the Ewoks believe that C-3P0 was a god and when Han gives C-3P0 a long list of things to do then tells him to hurry up. Admiral Ackbar's "It's a trap!!" line is a classic as well.

Re: What for you,are the funniest moments in the 6 Star Wars films and

From ESB:
Silver Threepio: "E chu ta!"
Threepio: "How rude!"

Re: What for you,are the funniest moments in the 6 Star Wars films and

I always get a laugh out of the scene in Empire when Yoda is playing with that mini flashlight, R2 tries taking it, so Yoda beats R2 with his cane. When I first saw the movie as a kid, it amused me because I was a kid and thought such antics were funny, but it still makes me smile all these years later.

That cracked me up, too. And the whole audience when I saw it, so it wasn't just for kids.

:rommie: Particularly the "How are you?" part.

Re: What for you,are the funniest moments in the 6 Star Wars films and

Some of my favorites have already been mentioned; another one is in ROTJ where Chewie and two Ewoks swing on a vine towards an Imperial scout-walker...(with Chewie doing a random Tarzan yell---the funny thing is, admist all this destruction and war, 'How does Chewie know about Tarzan?')

Chewie argues with the Ewoks, who begin to take it upon themselves to move the walker; but, eventually Chewie takes over and starts blasting Imperials....and there is a shot with one of the Ewoks throwing his head back, and crackin' up in the background....

Re: What for you,are the funniest moments in the 6 Star Wars films and

1. Jar-Jar stepping in the bantha poop. Ha ha. Poop is funny.
2. "I don't like sand...."
3. Obi-Wan "You were the chosen one! You were supposed to do good things." - Other than being a whiny punk since the moment I met you.
4. Han's logic-defying dodge of the laser blast.
5. Luke's "Nooooooo."
6. Anything with the Ewoks. I love cudwy little bear-like things that can beat a hardened, trained, army of evil.

YES. This, and the scene where Han goes chasing down the corridor after the stormtroopers, and they run from him because obviously he couldn't be insane enough to be alone and doing that, could he?

And, "I don't know. Fly casual." Seems like most of my favorite lines were Han.

Nien Numb cracks me up a bit in ROTJ, too, though. I can't understand Sullustan, obviously, yet I feel like I know the sentiment of what he's saying to Lando - and it's probably a good thing it's in Sullustan or there would have went the PG rating for the movie. ;)

Re: What for you,are the funniest moments in the 6 Star Wars films and

I can't believe nobody has mentioned my personal favorite line... (or maybe I missed it)

ESB - when Han is trying (and trying) to start the Millenium Falcon:
Leia - "Would it help if I got out and pushed?" :guffaw:

Re: What for you,are the funniest moments in the 6 Star Wars films and

It's the way Han looks at her, pauses just a brief moment and then says; "It might!" that I think makes that scene brilliant.
