What film DVD box to buy from Amazon.com?

What film box should I buy from Amazon.com with all films from 1979-2013? I'm not really looking for a box set that has a very high price tag on it, I'm sorry! Also, it would be DVD since first my DVD player is not a Blu-Ray player, and second, I have a computer that is a couple years old and I don't have a Blu-Ray drive or the equipment, my computer drive is DVD/CD-ROM, so buying a Blu-Ray box set would honestly be useless for me and I won't be any to watch any of them, so it does need to be DVD. Thank you!

You'd probably get a cheaper price on ebay if you're just wanting the plain DVD sets.

If you buy used you could end up getting discs that are damaged or Asian knock-offs. I would warn anyone to be careful and makes sure they're getting the product they pay for. :techman:

You are right!

Sorry, but I just seen the three replies now. Thank you all for the help! Since I am just responding to the replies now, I'll have a look at the link with the box set. Thank you for posting it.

I don't think there is a box set that includes all twelve films on either DVD or Blu-ray.

This is a collection of the first ten films:

Hi BillJ,

That link you posted, are you sure it's the ten films and not the twelve films? I'm asking because under Features & details, and Number of Disks is 12.

The two additional discs are bonus discs from the separate DVD box releases of the TOS and TNG movies.

From one of the reviews:

In May 2009, Paramount released Star Trek: Original Motion Picture Collection (Star Trek I, II, III, IV, V, VI + The Captain's Summit Bonus Disc) [Blu-ray], which contained the six Original Crew 'Star Trek' films ('The Motion Picture' - 'The Undiscovered Country') in their theatrical cuts, numerous special features both old and new and a bonus disc of brand new content known as 'Star Trek: The Captains' Summit'. Later that year, in September, the same studio released Star Trek: The Next Generation Motion Picture Collection (First Contact / Generations / Insurrection / Nemesis) [Blu-ray], which contained the four 'Star Trek: The Next Generation' films ('Generations' - 'Nemesis'), with identical special features as their previous DVD editions, along with a bonus disc of varied new featurettes.

Star Trek: The Stardate Collection is simply the consolidation of these two 'Star Trek' boxed sets; nothing more, nothing less. The 12 discs (10 movies and 2 bonus discs) are packaged in two tri-fold cardboard/plastic disc holders, which in turn slide into a sturdy cardboard box, taking up very little shelf space. Somewhat annoyingly, the discs are "stacked" two per plastic casing, so that one has to remove the top disc in order to get at the bottom disc. This is especially annoying considering that, with the 'Star Trek' film franchise's "even-number rule," the discs on the bottom are precisely the ones you're probably going to want to get at more often!

Thank you for confirming that!

About Star Trek (2009), and Into Darkness (2013). Would you recommend these DVDs from both links I am going to post?

I'm a Blu-ray guy only at this point. The only reason I know about the DVD's of the first ten movies is because they are similarly packaged.

I have both of the Abramsverse films on Blu-ray. Someone here with the DVD's of these films care to step in?

I can't speak about Into Darkness DVD since I have just the blu-ray but I do have that Star Trek 09 two disc DVD set. If you're going to get the 09 movie on DVD that is the set to buy especially if you're into the special features. The two disc has more than the one disc. At that price it's a steal.

I went with the single disk version of Into Darkness because the two-disk only had minimal special features that I really wasn't interested in this go-around (I was only interested in the film itself because it was Star Trek-related to be perfectly truthful.).

Plus, in order to get that two-disk version, I would have had to buy that large Enterprise model, which would have been a waste of money, because THAT would have gone into the trash instantly.

That's a really long-winded way of saying buy the single disk.

Only buy things with pictures of the actual product that's going to be shipped. Steer clear of stock photos.

For series, I have found the single year sets that come in book shaped boxes are usually of good quality. Multi-year sets that come in long, narrow, shoe box shaped boxes are usually low quality disks that have trouble playing.
