What faction are YOU?

TerragonSix

Lieutenant Commander
Red Shirt
As it says, if you were a member of TNG universe, what would it be, and why? Romulan, Federation, Klingon, etc.

Personally, I'd be a Klingon. It appeals to my inner primitive core. :)

I'd be a Romulan, all the strength and longevity of Vulcans but none of the emotional repression. I could have also picked the Cardassians, they have a cool practicality and love of hearth and home that I respect.

Either Federation and in Starfleet or some kind of pirate ;) perhaps Orion
But my SO would say I would be Vulcan since I'm always pulling the logic card on them

Starfleet. But one of those ship captains that Starfleet Command can never quite keep on the leash, with about as many reprimands as commendations.

Hmm, either Klingon because they get the best looking ships and weapons, or Federation because they get the best health insurance.

I would have to be Romulan. I love the D'deridex Warbirds and having a cloak is not to bad either. I have to agree with Rojixus on the longevity of the Romulans and not having to worry about hiding emotions. :rommie:

Federation, Section 31. Nothing like being able to rationalize the most ugly sh*t with the most lofty ideals. :D

I think I would be Federation. If capitalism actually survived into the 24th century, I'd probably be in marketing, as I am today, but given that commerce has probably been reduced to a crawl thanks to replicators, I'd probably end up as a political campaign manager -- helping to craft messages and influence minds to vote for my chosen candidate.

I guess it's time. I'm gonna go ahead and out myself:

I'm Human. Yep, we have a bunch and negative traits. We're squishy and emotional and weak. But hey, that Doctor guy thinks we're kinda cool.

This is an interesting question, and one that is sort of related to something I was thinking about recently--it seems (to me) that many of the alien cultures that are encountered in TNG have a definite "masculine" or "feminine" feel to them. However, it seems that the major cultures in TNG are more on the "masculine" side, like the Klingons and the Romulans. When I say that, I mean they exhibit more traditionally masculine features and cultural concepts--not that women don't appear in both of these cultures. However, that being said, I wonder why the major power players in the TNG universe are more "masculine" in this fashion?

I never thought of that before, but you are right.... im sure there are some but i can't think of a race that one would say was more feminine.... Perhaps betazoid. That's all i can think of.

I think I am going to have to go with starfleet, as long as I am some science officer on a Galaxy class ship. :techman:

Romulans were based on the Romans, originally. Rome was a male-dominated culture.

Klingons were originally an allegory for the Soviet Union, and later morphed into an amalgam of Spartans, samurai, and sea pirates. All male-dominated cultures.

Cardassians were based on the Nazis. need I say anything there?

Vulcans were pretty neutral, and kind of based on Buddhists, at least until Pon Far time.

But then you have the founders and the Borg. Both were genderless, but led by females.
