What episode would you like to see a movie sequel for?

telerites

Commander
Red Shirt
I'm sure many of episodes have seen continuation/sequels in novels or fan fiction but which episode do you think would be best for a large scale movie follow-up (a la Wrath of Khan)?

The Cage. The Menagerie (don't remember which part) was the first Trek episode I ever saw, and the Talosians stood out and freaked me out. I had nightmares. Would love to revisit them. Maybe assimilated!

Where No Man Has Gone Before. A revived, now fully insane Gary Mitchell (who somehow survived Kirk's impromptu resolution) lures a certain starship back to Delta Vega under veiled pretenses.

Or something like that....

A follow-up to Tribbles. It's a rom-com where Cyrano Jones' gets caught in a love triangle with a human woman who's allergic to tribbles and an ambisexual alien with a serious fetish for tribbles and men with BIG pockets. How romance blossom when sexually frustrated tight-ass Mr. Nilz Barris goes all Priority One on poor Cyrano at every turn? Can love find a way when you have spend the next 17.9 years shoveling tribbles? Hilarity ensues!

KIRK: Gentlemen, you two have been brooding ever since we returned to the ship.
SPOCK: Brooding, Captain?
KIRK: Brooding, Mister Spock. A sombre, emotional state. Now, do you wish to continue it or are you going to discuss it?
SPOCK: Captain, I'm neither brooding nor sombre. But I do have reservations about your solution to the problem of the Iotians.
KIRK: Ah, yes. I understand that. You don't think it's logical to leave a criminal organisation in charge.
SPOCK: Highly irregular, to say the least, Captain. I'm also curious as to how you propose to explain to Starfleet Command that a starship will be sent each year to collect our cut.
KIRK: Yes, that's a very good question, Mister Spock. I propose our cut be put into the planetary treasury and used to guide the Iotians into a more ethical system. Despite themselves, they'll be forced to accept conventional responsibilities. Isn't that logical? All right, Bones, in the language of the planet, what's your beef?
MCCOY: I don't know how serious this is, Jim, and I don't quite know how to tell you
KIRK: Go ahead.
MCCOY: But in all the confusion I
KIRK: Tell me.
MCCOY: I think I left it in Bela's office.
KIRK: You left it?
MCCOY: Somewhere. I'm not certain.
KIRK: You're not certain of what?
MCCOY: I left my communicator.
KIRK: In Bela's office?
SPOCK: Captain. If the Iotians, who are very bright and imitative people, should take that communicator apart
KIRK: They will, they will. And they'll find out how the transtator works.
SPOCK: The transtator is the basis for every important piece of equipment that we have.
KIRK: Everything.
MCCOY: You really think it's that serious?
KIRK: Serious? Serious, Bones? It upsets the whole percentage.
MCCOY: How do you mean?
KIRK: Well, in a few years, the Iotians may demand a piece of our action.

You know that was one I thought about when I posted.

Omega Glory, Patterns of Force, and Bread and Circuses would also be interesting.

It's now 70 years since the defeat of the Space Nazis and Ekos is the richest and most prosperous planet in their region of the Federation. They've cornered the market on land vehicles. Making the best sedans and sports cars. And they've even become major contractors in building space craft components.

DS9 almost did this (kind of) instead of Tribbles.

Charlie X could do with a sequel. What if an older Charlie escaped from the Thasians and decided to seek revenge on Captain Kirk.

TNG was planning on returning to that planet- the crew was going to find them all dressed in TOS uniforms and communications operating on StarFleet frequencies. One of the ideas that never got out of the concept stage bu tit would have been fun.

My vote would be a visit to the First Federation to see how Balok and the Fesarius were doing. One of those great first contact shows which was never touched upon again (although the Fesarius was seen briefly in the fan film "Of Gods and Men" in the final battle scene).

It occurred to me that "Space Seed" and "The Changeling" would have made good...oh...wait...they did...

I agree very much with the above regarding "A Piece of the Action"...that has real potential, IMHO...

Would they all talk like Shatner instead of gangsters?

As I understand it, there was some concern that this notion, unless handled carefully, might be perceived as making fun of Trek fandom--and biting the hand that fed them! :)

Not seeing the problem. ;)

I thought this was one of the stories they were considering for the 30th Anniversary on Deep Space Nine? But decided to do "Trials and Tribble-ations".

IIRC, a version of the story showed up in one of the Marvel Star Trek comics.

EDIT: Found it.
