What Enterprise Do You Prefer? NuENterprise NCC 1701 or TOS NCC 1701

I only choose the two ships from early on in the crews voyages because I wanted to stick to the earliest versions the crews used and NuTrek only has one version so far. This thread should be fun.

I love them both, and think the designs are elegant, but if I had to choose, I'd have to pick the new Enterprise.

This poll won't prove anything, but I voted for the original. If the refit had been one of the choices it would have been more difficult.

Still, the new design is a good looking ship and I like it too.

Im not trying to prove anything beyond that either ship is futuristic enough for a diverse amount of fans to like one or the other. I even get why people like the NuEnterprise. It has a modern design via apple. I was a apple fan since the beginning so I get why people like NuEnterprise. I just have a fondness for the original and like the clean look of it both outside and in.

Can I choose both?

I wouldn't change the TOS Enterprise, it fits the show, the time it was made in, etc.

But, I certainly wouldn't make a new Big Budget movie and redo it like.

I love the new bridge, even if I wish the lensflares on the bridge in the first movie could be toned down, as they made it hard for me to appreciate the bridge (The Second movie, the lens flares were fine, as they cut back on it in the stark white)

Dude, the Apple Store jokes started with the first stills released for the film way back in 09. That and the Hostess station. We had a field day with them here. My first computer was a Mac Plus but I haven't owned on since. My wife has an iPad, but it doesn't look like a prop from Star trek any more than my Kindle does. I see ipods and other Apple products all day long. Other than many of them being white, I'm not seeing the connection.

Yeah I like the TMP refit myself. I wanted to limit it to the earliest enterprises from the early Kirk eras. I also have a fondness for the TNGs Enterprise D and prefer it over Enterprise E by a longshot. I just didn't want to muddle to many ships from different eras together.

I have a vague recollection of a comment like that by one of the filmmakers back in (I think) 2008—about the appearance of the product, rather than the look of the stores (which never really has been a credible comparison)—but so far I haven't been able to track it down. You wouldn't happen to have a link?

There's quite a bit I like about the interior design, but it's the exterior which sold it, as far as I'm concerned. The lines of the nuEnterprise seem very much to be calling back to aircraft and automobile designs of the era between the Streamline Modern of the 30s and 40s and the Space Age designs of the 60s. I suspect there's more than a little influence from designers like Virgil Exner in the look of Ryan Church's nuEnterprise.
