What edition is the new Motion Picture DVD?

Apologies if this has been asked before:

In regards to Star Trek: The Motion Picture which has been re-released on DVD along with the other first-five films, is this is original theatrical edition, or the superior Director's Edition?

Many thanks,

-Dan

^Assuming you mean on Blu Ray: Theatrical (or MAYBE the Extended video edition from BEFORE the DE). The new fx weren't rendered in high enough definition.

I'm referring to the new edition DVD (also available on Blu-ray, but I am referring to the DVD specifically) which was released immediately after the new film hit theatres. I presume they will be the same film.

That is interesting about the new effects.

So, does this mean there will never be a Bluray DE? That's a lot of work for something so short lived.

No. I'm sure there will be such a disc. They will just have to re-render (not re-create, just re-RENDER) the new effects, for the higher resolution of HD.

I don't know why they didn't do that from the get-go, but there we are.
