What does it take to take down a Terminator?

That actually happened in the comics. It was supposed to be a direct sequel to Resurrection.

would a terminator's wicked plasma rifle out do a predators shoulder mounted plasma gun?

How about a crew served weapon like TOW made to defeat tank armour and then cause all manner of havoc once it penetrated the armour. Tow has two charges, one to defeat reactive and the second to penetrate inside to do massive internal damage to the parts located inside the Terminator. Hellfire RF is another weapon as well.
