What does it take to take down a Terminator?

Batman.

If Batman is unavailable, the answer seems to be unmanned industrial plants. These plants, complete with crushing equipment and giant melting pots, are left unsecured after hours for your Terminator killing needs.

It really is a considerate gesture from the owners of these plants. We should send them a fruitcake.

So we're sending them... Sarah Connor?

phased plasma rifle in the 40 watt range.

I always loved that line but apparently the Skynet that sent the T-800 didn't have detailed files.

In any of these expanded universe or whatever they're called stories has there ever been less advanced terminators developed or ones with different weaknesses? Skynet is created anew each time right? It would seem with different formative factors changed that Skynet might not develop exactly the same way each time but it seems like each Skynet gets further developed models.

Even Terminators fear the BSOD. :D

Maybe the RSOD? ;)

things that can take down a terminator:

windows xp with internet explorer
e.m. pulse
computer virus (see internet explorer)
melting (apparently)

they shouldn't even be called terminators. they can't kill if their lives depended on it. sure they can kill the occassional helpless target, but nothing that's worth killing. they're much like squirt guns. pretty much harmless.

You gotta remember that in one of the older time lines like the one we saw the first movie in, that all the schools had been shut down for over thirty years that literacy would be a serious problem as well as the size of peoples vocabularies.

The people that Skynet is fighting in the currentish time line have only been living in a collapsed society for just less than 20 years. A lot of educated people will be thinking up scary plans for the resistance.

Unless Skynet named them?

Because people stenciled that T-1(? What low number was it?) on those bots from the third movie.

i'm sure a copy of windows xp or vista still exits in that timeline.

still, for such sophisticated pieces of technology, their targeting programming is quite substandard and highly ineffective. whoever programmed them forgot to add the "shoot where they are headed not where they are" part.

Actually yes there are. There are storylines in which Skynet was developed at different levels due to interference from the future and the war didn't progress so well for the machines. There is one storyline in which the T-800 is easily destroyed and the war was over in a little over a couple of years as opposed to the 20+ of the typical timeline. But the timeline with the weakened Skynet was all screwed up.

Regarding the original question, I'm not sure, but I volunteer to see if the answer in Cameron's case is "cunnilingus".

I'd guess that slicing them to pieces with a lightsaber would work pretty well...

Except on the T-1000....
