What does it mean when you say you want to see something new?

Yeah, I think showing "the near future" during Khan's reign could be a great opening scene. They could show him as a big infamous dictator or someone pulling the strings.

In any case, I'd want a "three-dimensional Khan" this time, stealing everyone's show and not being tricked so easily.
As for the Klingons: I hope JJ takes the liberty to revamp them completely. I would more TOS-like Klingons (in behavior), without 2309 Blood Wine and honor crap, but then their appearance should change considerably, so that we would not be wondering about the same old TNG-looking Klings "acting out of character". If the JJ KLings are just the old TNG Klings, he just might use other aliens.

I still don't understand why people are dead-set against using the Khan character. You know, its a bit like saying:

"I'm a Batman fan - I never want to see the Joker again"

or

"I'm a Superman fan - I never want to see Lex Luthor again"

It's the very use, over-use, and eventual abuse of these characters that I want to avoid. Every few months there's another Luthor or Joker story. The former invents some crazy trap for Supes, the latter escapes Arkham (again) and murders a dozen people. Sure, they are great characters, but it's been 70 and 60 years respectively, let them take a nap or something.

And that's exactly the kind of recycling and falling back on old characters I want these guys to avoid. Why go through the trouble of creating a completely new timeline just to use the exact same villains that's fucking dull and boring. Show me your writer's chops and actually create something. Don't rehash what others have done.
