what do you want the move to be about

pookha

Admiral
Admiral
what elements do you most want to see in the movie.

the human adventure..
actually i am curious how people personally define that.

great character interaction

new life and new civilization

a quest

real exotic science fiction stuff

I just want to be walking out of the theater and say, to no one in particular:

"Holy shit. That kicked ass!"

How they get me to say that is not so important.

I gladly admit I'll accept anything with the Trek label on EXCEPT if it's a remake. That's where I draw the line.

Act I: Setup a mystery and love story
Act II: Play out love story
Act III: Solve mystery

Put in an action scene about every 15-20 minutes, or four big action set pieces, ala M:I-III

I want to exit the theater balling my eyes out. I'm looking for "Terms of Endearment" type stuff but I doubt I'll get it.

I want Kirk and Spock at the VERY least to have genuine on-screen chemistry. If they accomplish that, they could do a movie about a boring day patrolling the Neutral Zone and they'd have accomplished something worthwhile.

I want to see an analytical, aethereal, austere, beautiful, textured exploration of humankind's role in an evolving universe told with a poetic elegance and conceptual grandeur of an order that would make the speculations of Robert Nast and Olaf Stapledon look like public crapper graffiti in comparison. :)

I fell asleep halfway through your sentence.

Well, STC, what can I say? We evidently cannot both be TOS fans, so with that in mind I will gladly cede you the privilege of wearing that badge and - should anybody ask - merely refer to myself as a transient passing through the franchise on my way to the local BDSM parlor.

I threw my popcorn at the screen and seriously considered demanding my money back. But the thinly disguised sexual tension between Kirk and Spock got me back in my seat. Way to go, JJ!

We low-brow types need to stick together. :D

Temis, will you be my date for Star Trek XI?

TGT

In other words, not Star Trek: The Motion Picture.

*ducks*

Oh, I don't know.

I fell asleep halfway through that one, too, so maybe there's a connection.

I see no reason why good writers couldn't combine TGT's want for poetic elegance with everything else (cool action, well-developed characters, etc.) I wouldn't mind some conceptual grandeur, so long as it came across as a watchable movie.

I want some good old fashioned slash baby! Yeah. Scenes with Kirk and Spock sans shirts. Whoo-hooooooooo!

No seriously I just want a kick ass movie however it's accomplished. That's all I want. Plus Zoe Saldana's cell phone number. :D

I just want there to be a dilemma, the climax of which makes me go, "Yes! This is what Star Trek should be!"

And when I leave the theater, I want to feel all warm and gooshy inside.
