What do you think of Bill Cosby?

I definitely have mixed feelings about Cosby. I can't deny his place in the history of comedy and entertainment in general--and that's even without The Cosby Show--but there are times when I find him more silly than really funny, while other times he's touching upon some really profound stuff in his material.

In recent years, though, I tend to think of him as being more of a social activist than a comedian. And like most social activists, he eventually says stuff that a lot of people don't like to hear or think is too preachy...

What do you think of Bill Cosby?

He's a smart, well-educated man who has vast comedic talents. He's also quite outspoken on the subject of education and cares about the youth of America and that they receive the best education possible. I respect him immensely.

To this day, I still love "Himself." A great stand-up routine that still holds up.

I largely agree with his stance on social issues, too. It's a shame he got shouted down for bringing attention to the problems facing the black community.

I'm in the same boat. He basically said, "Look, African American pop culture is, at the moment, promoting teen pregnancy, rampant drug use, the lack of value of education, vulgar language, etc., and we need to step forward as parents and promote a better lifestyle for our children." That the most common response to this was to accuse Cosby of being an elitist or having "black guilt" is still mind-boggling to me.

I don't know why Bil Cosby took shit for his statements. Wasn't it Barack Obama who said: "Maybe we can afford to give the badass nigga pose a rest." He was basically saying what Cosby was saying.

Apathetic really. I don't find him particularly amusing or entertaining, but I don't dislike him or anything.
