What do you think of 47?

As we know, number 47 appears in many places in Star Trek after Joe Menosky joined the crew.

What do you think about it? Is it good? is it bad?

I find it somehow lame (in lack of a better word) that an inside joke like that pops up. It wouldn't be a problem if we didn't know it's there but sometimes it's silly when watching an episode 47 pops up. First you're like, "HAHA, found one!" but then... I don't know.

I'm a bit nuts with numbers anyway so maybe that's why it bothers me, fortunately not much or at all, but still.

When I was watching TNG as a lad, I never really noticed until somebody pointed it out. I just figured with all those numbers and technical gibberish that people would spout off, similar-sounding stuff was bound to pop up from time to time.

It was Menoksy's way of referencing the "47 Society" from his alma mater, Ponoma College.
