What do you like better.. Duet or Waltz

Flying Spaghetti Monster

Vice Admiral
Admiral
Both shows had titles on a running theme, and both featured two important characters in dialog only discussing their points of view. both spoke of the Cardassian occupation using a few different points of view. I think there is clearly a thematic connection between the two.
Please discuss which one is better.

Duest because it was just a naturally flowing episode that didnt try to hard to make its point. Waltz is a little overdramatic and is the last time that they try to portray Dukat, a once duplicitous, fascinating character as pure eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeevil.

"Duet" surpasses both the later nominees for "Best of DS9," "In the Pale Moonlight" and "The Visitor."

"Waltz," as the continuation of Dukat's character assassination, qualifies as a suckfest.

Waltz. It's the best Dukat episode, and the height of his character arc. Everything afterwards devolved into mustache twirling character assasination.

Duet is quite good, too, but Waltz is one of my favorite episodes that I feel is often overlooked.

Waltz is great right up until they went with the ending that figuratively assasinates Dukat's character instead of the other good ending they had also written, which left Dukat's character as sympathetic and three-dimensional. So Waltz is way better up, until the last few minutes. I love Dukat, he's awesome.

I don't like Bajorans so I didn't really care if Maritza did the crimes or not, or was punished or not, or about Maritza in general. He was played by a really good actor, but still no reason why I should care about the character. Besides that, Duet was just a stale rehash of cliched old Nuremberg-eque movie(s) that have been done a million times before, whereas Waltz was fresh.

And Duet is way, way more over-dramatic than Waltz is.

I like Duet better- for some reason Waltz always annoyed me. Of course, I never considered Duet one of my top five episodes.

Duet is my favourite. It has some brilliant character development for Kira especially as it helps her to start overcoming her prejudices about Cardassians. Harris Yulin gave a stellar performance which really made the storyline so much richer and more hard hitting. It's great drama and very much true to the spirit of Trek in the lessons that it teaches and the issues that it raises.

Tough decision, but I'll go for "Duet" because it was more profound to hear a Cardassian say those things to a Bajoran, that it was for a Cardassian to say them to a human.

Wasn't the gist of Duet that a Cardassian had himself surgically altered to look like an already deceased Cardassian war criminal?

Did he forget to do research or was he just that looney?

So that aspect seemed a little absurd.

But a space station full of aliens who all appear to speak English is perfectly acceptable. ;)

Waltz, I didn't like schizo Dukat. I did like Sisko goading him into finally venting Dukat sheer hatred toward Bajorans.

So...I don't know.
