What do you guys want to see if Khan was in Star Trek XII?

Apparently we needed repeating heroes, so I don't see a problem with Khan. And it worked for the Joker, too, didn't it?

That's a bit different. The Joker is a staple to the Batman universe, you expect Batman to fight the Joker at some point. Khan, much as I am a fan, isn't as important to Star Trek.

I wanna see the USS Reliant and a Genesis prototype of somesort :)

Carol Marcus and some unprotected weightless sex?

Khan is important to TOS in a way, because he was the only recurring villain and was also carried over to the movie series- for a movie that was a successful revitalization of sorts for the franchise as well.
I think people, especially those who have only very limited knowledge of oldTrek, might be interested to see "Kirk's old enemy" back.

He's got super-strength so you can have huge fighting scenes, he has charisma, he's intelligent, he's got a cause, he is human, and a link to a time closer to ours. I'd say bring him back.

Khan got only important to TOS in retrospect. Had they chosen another villain for Star Trek 2, nobody would care about Khan. Wrath of Khan made Khan to what he is now. Mainstream is citing TWOK, not Space Seed.

Why does the Federation have to find Khan in the AU? it would be cool if the Klingons found him and his crew instead.

Yeah that sounds good actually. The Klingons board the ship intending to wake them up and use them as slaves or something, only to be quickly overpowered and their ship taken over.

Actually I think Enterprise already did it, doh.

Khan is a recurring villain? Khan appeared twice, in Space Seed and TWOK. If you want to include TAS, then Harry Mudd has made more appearances than that (Mudd's Women, I, Mudd, and Mudd's Passion).

Hate to break it to you folks, but Khan is not that prominent and is not one of the first things people think of when they think of Trek. He was the lead villain in one movie. That movie may have been the best and most popular, but still there is more to Trek than Khan.

But Paramount is apparently going for what's popular. They chose to reboot Kirk and Spock instead of creating a new crew, or giving TNG another go. So they will definately be going for something that has already been there, and is popular.

What I *don't* want to see is an Enterprise Vs. Reliant battle that plays out more like the Scimitar battle. One of the coolest things in TWOK was all the careful maneuvering, pacing, and mood that the two ships had to make.

I suppose when you consider this, and that most Trek movie from the past 15 years have tried to copy TWOK in some respect, or in XI's case blatantly masturbate to it, then yeah, Paramount might as well just remake TWOK and get it out of their systems.

I don't want Khan in number 2, save him for number 3.

At the end of Number 2 (after the Enterprise has saved the day) have the Reliant closing in on a vessel shrouded in darkness. The Reliant shines a search light on it and slowly reveals 'Botany Bay'. Fade to black and credits roll :)

Trek fans in the audience murmur a collective 'Whoa' whilst everyone else franticly searches on the internet to find out wtf Botany Bay is :D

That would be an interesting way to do it...:techman:

If they were to essentially retell "Space Seed" in it's original form, I'd like to see a better written McGuivvers. She shouldn't be a wishy washy wallflower that Khan dominates into helping him.

Supposedly, she's helping him becasue she's fallen for the "romance" of that period. Go whole hog and have her enthusiastically embrace Eugenicism. Have her BE the "superior woman" that Khan is supposedly so enamored of.

Frankly, I'd say X was much more of a blatant rip of TWOK than XI, right down to the use of some ace in the sleeve while talking directly to the villain in order to stall him during the pause of a big space battle... when, y'know, weapons and tactics alone just wouldn't do.

I didn't say XI ripped-off TWOK, I said it blatantly masturbated to it. Which is true. You had the Kobayashi Maru with the same sound effects and Kirk eating an apple, ceti eels, "I have been and always shall be your friend," and so on.

I'm not quite sure if it's just Paramount that needs to get Khan out of their system if the posts in the forum are any indication.

In any case, I'll be disappointed if they choose to do Khan again or remake any other story we've already seen for that matter.

That does not mean a very good movie can not come from something like that and it does not mean I'll spend the next 2-3 years whining & bitching.
It's just not the road down which I'd prefer the sequel to go.

I would want to see Naveen Andrews in the role, and non-hilarious costuming.
Not Andrews, Scarlett Johansson with the original costume.
