What Do You Fear?

My biggest fear is that an ancient alien entity splits my skull with a sharp metal object.

Can you please enlighten me? :)

Aren't there enough examples in this thread to illustrate the point?

I got the "feeling of lack" from the fears listed. If one feels they have knowledge or understanding of something, they have confidence in their abilities and feels loved + the feeling they can love, what do they have to fear?

Um, one can feel love and still have fears. Fear of not being loved is not the root of all fears.

^ Yes, it is.

PTSD created a whole bunch of new fears five years ago. By now I'm much better, but I still occasionally freak out. I was visiting a pretty chaotic art studio recently and noticed a kitchen knife laying on the floor. Without saying anything, I picked it up and put it back on the guy's worktable. I guess he thought I was a neat freak. Nope. Just terrified of large knives in places where they don't belong, especially on the floor.

Maybe centipedes, daddy long-legs, etc. I haven't met any in a long time, so I'm not sure. Definitely exposed heights. Looking out the window of a tall building is fine; ladders and roofs are not. But I'm not nearly as bad as I used to be. I actually rode a cherry picker to the flat roof of a building recently. Was terrified on the way up and down and nervous on the roof itself, but I did it! I have no idea if this is typical, but it seems like, as I heal from the PTSD, my older, unrelated fears are lessening, too.

Dementia. That one isn't going to go away. Worst diseases on earth, IMO.

Edited to add one more: I fear most of the U.S. Presidential candidates.

I didn't say not being loved was the root of all fears. I was just kicking around the idea of "the feeling of lack" & fear in general. I mentioned other things other than love. ;)

It really isn't that important but for me the feeling "I lack something" can = fear. :bolian:

I could be totally wrong but I think fear comes from the feeling of lack, lack of knowledge or understanding, lack of ability and lack of love?

...the feeling "I lack something" can = fear. :bolian:

For me, it's the absolute wording -- "comes from", instead of "sometimes comes from" or "can come from" -- in the first post that's problematic. I agree that lack of something "can" result in fear.

^On a related note, I do sometimes fear that, due to the political climate, my rights will be limited even more, or taken away.

^ I am not saying it would be easy but you could be the person that says NO! We all have that potential with political & societal issues. :bolian: I really wish I could stand up for things I feel hurt our human experience. :(
