What do you do for a living?

I'm an IT specialist at a large bureaucratic agency. I used to lead a team of software performance testers, but I was recently promoted into more of an oversight/special projects kind of role.

I am an assistant office manager at a physical therapy clinic.

I am also a part time student finishing up a Media Arts degree. As part of my major, I am currently interning at a local TV station and am hoping to land a job there, either as a TV news production assistant or some sort of engineering position like master control operator.

I am a library director for a smallish suburb. Not as boring as you'd think, since the high school is right next door. Actually, no job that involves dealing with the public is boring.

I'm also an aspiring actor. I'm not ready to quit my day job yet, but I did get a paying gig this year ($40!).

I'm an English teacher in junior high.

Seriously? I recently mentioned in another thread that I had a couple of Junior High English teachers who were phenomenal and had a huge and lasting impact on my life. And, unfortunately, left me with many, many spelling, punctuation and grammar pet peeves. :p

I will never forget the time in 7th grade when Mr. McKinnon exemplified the split infinitive using the "... to boldly go ..." line. It was the first time I'd heard it that one. I felt like Norman in I Mudd: I idolized Mr. McKinnon, but he had besmirched my beloved Star Trek.

[fragile Norman voice]Mr. McKinnon is an English teacher, so he must be telling the truth ..., but there can be nothing wrong with my beloved Star Trek ..., but if Star Trek is correct ... then Mr. McKinnon is wrong ... but if Mr. McKinnon is a teacher ....[/fragile Norman voice]

Sorry. I got a little carried away there. ;)

Logistics agent

At one point i was organizing outgoing transports, then organizing incoming transports and the storage of said products and now am in an internal division that controls all warehousing related stuff like controlling the stock so every department has enough stuff to be able to meet their orders (amongst other stuff).

I am just a warehouse women. At the moment i am making up the gift sets full of soap and shampoo ect for a well know UK chemist and supermarket.
Before that i was the women who replaced all the beer glasses that used to get broken when England lost at football.

I teach high school English and I pick up the occasional job teaching courses for a university through the local community colleges.

TrekkieMonster, most grammarians worth their salt (or their salt vampires) will tell you that there is nothing intrinsically wrong with a split infinitive so long as the meaning remains clear. Likewise, the grammatical bugbear of ending a sentence with a preposition is considered a non-issue.

Ire Audacter! I love that course in linguistics! Especially when you know that "rule" is based on Latin grammar, where verbs are really indivisible because they're just one word. Not in English!
