What do Voyager fans think of Enterprise?

I think the one problem Enterprise had that VOY didn't, was that the ENT characters were constantly angry about something or sexing it up. The Voyager characters were a little more grounded and I found them easier and more entertaining to watch. But, to each his own. :)

I LOVE Enterprise, yet I think that that is an intersting observation! I don't agree with you fully, but it's at least partly true--and maybe more than partly in seasons 3 and 4.

The funny thing about all the praise that "In A Mirror Darkly" gets: it's such a great two-parter, but when you think about it, none of our main cast is in the story at all.

Alt-Trip, Alt-Tucker, Alt-Archer? They don't count at all. Funky that.

So is VOY's "Living Witness"; though the Doctor in that episode is so similar to our own it scarcely matters. "Course: Oblivion" would almost qualify if not for the epilogue.

You're absolutely right. I can't believe If forgot them!

I, for one, really enjoyed VOY and ENT, and despite what many say I did not think they were clones of each other. I think that ENT gets the short end of the stick all too often and all of the good and great (yes, great) shows they pulled off on ENT just get ignored or dismissed. I find such attitudes coming from VOY fans all the more surprising given how often VOY is just trashed left and right in some of the other forums around here, and for the same supposed "reasons" that people hated ENT.

To be brutally honest IMO (And I'm never not), ENT was at its best respectable, and at its worst, it made the first two seasons of TNG look like the golden age of Trek.

I like Enterprises' Season 4. They finally got it right, then they killed it! :(

The decline after the zenith reached in Season Four of Voyager was much slower than many people said it was - I'm enoying Season Five a lot more than I remembered doing the first time round (I caught a few Season Two episodes and Season Three of DS9 and they're also a lot better than I remembered them being). I don't dislike Enterprise at all, and the last two seasons of Enterprise were certainly more consistant than the last two seasons of Voyager (but Voyager had stronger characters and a higher number of indivdually better episodes, but that is more down to the greater number of seasons).

i've been against prequels for the most part, especially in the trek universe. i like that its continually moved forward. but, i especially wanted the next series to move forward mainly out of the selfish reason that we might possibly find out what happened to the VOY crew (aside from janeway making admiral).

that being said, when ENT first came on i sincerely tried to like it and get into it, but just couldn't. even now after watching re-runs of it on the sci-fi channel, the show just doesn't really hold my interest.

now that the tv and movie arms of cbs/paramount have been separated maybe we will get some new trek series in spite of the trek relaunch movie (which, again, i have no interest in seeing).

Agreed.

BUT, I absolutely despise- despise- the theme song.

This is shallow, but the theme song with the opening montage is probably the biggest reason why I've only seen 1-2 episodes of Enterprise. I wanted to give it a chance, but then that music comes on and gives me such a strong sense that this show isn't for me.

Sorry, but I'm not a fan of "Enterprise".

I did watch 5 episodes of the show, then I simply quit. I did find the characters bland compared to the other Trek shows, the only one who had some personality was Trip. I also thought that the show screwed up too much of already established Trek history and, to be honest, I was never fond of the whole idea of a "retro series" either. I got the impression that B&B were trying to outdo Roddenberry by making their own TOS "the way it should have been done".

I guess there are some good stuff here and there in "Enterprise" but I think the series was a lot weaker than the other Trek series.

However, I don't want to bash it either. If there are fans of the show who really like it, let them have it and enjoy it.

I've watched seasons 1 through 6 of Voyager, ( my ex stole season 7. ) and I do catch Enterprise every Monday. I enjoy watching Ent. very much due to the storylines and characters.

I'm in the minority that only liked season 1 and 2 of ENT. I thought there was too much politics in season 3 and I didn't finish watching season 4 because the storyline and character development didn't hold my interest.

I'm right there with you--I did finish season 4, but feel the same way you do about seasons 1 and 2. Glad to know there are more of us!

^Count me in the group too. i prefer the first 2 seasons to the 3rd & 4th

I don't really see the need for all this competitive comparisons between the shows that's prevalant on these boards though. All the shows have their strengths and weaknesses and different folks sometimes prefer different things just because they do.

Kio, I doubt you'll get an overall consensus from the VOY fandom at large - some will like ENT too, some won't, some will only like parts of it. The best way to find out is to just dig in (either borrow or rent the DVD's so you aren't wasting money if it turns out it's not for you) or maybe to ask in the ENT forum what are considered the better eps and sample some of them to see what you think.

Enterprise was a fine sc-fi show, but a lousy Star Trek show. I was always insulted that they didn't even include the words "Star Trek" in the title of the show. And comments from it's producer about how he would rather have ratings than follow established canon certainly didn't help the show.

Enterprise was marketed to a group of "new" fans at the expense of losing Star Trek's "old" fans. The result was "new" fans still think Star Trek is geeky and don't want to watch it, but the "old" fans have been insulted and alienated and the show was canceled

I did find the characters bland compared to the other Trek shows.

The problem was, the two main characters -- captain and first officer -- were leaden. Below that level, the cast was good. Trip, excellent. Doctor, very good if not quite Holodoc excellent. Malcolm, not bad. Hoshi, underutilized but interesting. And the guest characters for the Xindi, Andorians, etc. were quite compelling.

But it was always going to be a challenge to sustain viewer interest with stolid Bakula and monotone Blaylock dominating the screen.

and what the hell is a Donobulan? It looks like a cross between a Cardassian and a Talaxian. And why have we never seen another one since?

that's actualy a big part of what turned me off to the show initialy. I saw a commercial and wondered how there was a Talaxian on the show
