Nero was a wasted character, they might as well have made the Narada AI controlled. I had high hopes for a nicely developed villain given the casting of Bana and was thoroughly disappointed by his lack of screen time.
Kirk straight to captain from cadet. So if I join the US Navy will they give me a ballistic missile sub when I graduate? No, its ridiculous.
Chekov was somewhat annoying.
We didn't see the Narada whoop anyone. Would it have killed them to show the ship tearing apart other vessels.
Drilling into the core of the planet. Why not just drop the red matter straight onto the surface, a black hole is a black hole.

I thought that if you detonated red matter on the surface, the black hole would, like, swallow everything in orbit instead of just the planet.
The book actually states that Red Matter needs a high heat source in order to detonate, which is why it works on the Super Nova and the planet's core. And due to this change, Spock self-destructs the Jellyfish which causes the red matter to detonate and slowly pull the Narada into the black hole, rather than just crash the jellyfish into the ship itself.
Kind of makes sense considering Kirk's line "Too close to the singularity" makes no freaking sense since the singularity is emanating from inside the bloody ship!

^ ^ Yes. The book says the red matter doesn't work without something like a star (i.e., Hobus), warp breach or planet core to reach critical.
It says red matter commonly floats around in the vacuum of space innocuously, without a heat source. I wondered if it inferred that the galaxy's black holes were formed by igniting red matter.

2. Chekov can beam up Kirk and Sulu while they are in free fall but can't save Spock's mother?
3. Being able to transport ridiculously long distances ... is that even possible during TNG time period?
4. The meeting between Kirk and Spock Prime is way too convenient
5. Scotty stuck in the water tube is a useless and unnecessary scene
6. The look of Engineering doesn't seem very technologically advanced as it could be mistaken for the bowels of a cruise ship of today
8. Kirk's promotion from raw cadet to Captain of the flagship is a stretch

Amanda was crushed to bits in the earthquake -- not in the transporter. The ledge she was standing on gave way and she was covered in rock.
They haven't really figured that warp-beaming thing out yet; Spock is an expert, and he put Scotty inside a beer vat. I think they'll be backing off that one.

I didn't dislike anything about the movie.
As a fan for the past 25 years, what I have disliked, and have found disheartening, include the people who:
-ranted on here for the past three years that this movie would fail.
-these same people who, when faced with a great opening weekend box office, said the movie would quickly sink
-these same people who, when faced with the fact that Star Trek '09 is a hit unlike anything anyone ever thought possible, has revived Star Trek, and brought it back into the mainstream...are left to nitpick about inconsequential elements of the film in what is beyond being tired and pathetic attempts to prove themselves right... sigh.

Chris's Disappearing and Reappearing Mole
I am tired of short ship to ship battle scenes. Did the Enterprise even have shields? What good are they if they never work even for a short while. Lets face it, alot of us Star Trek fans love the hardware. The ships, phasers, scanners, etc. In the movie "A bridge too far" a WW2 movie thee was a 6.5 minute long battle scene. Give us a knock down drag out battle scene between ships showcasing the weapons on the ship. Give us better sound effects on those weapons also. Please!
Yep. I also find it amusing many of these people have the nerve to call us not real fans, refer to themselves as old-timers when in fact most of them are Johnny-come-lately band-wagon jumpers who came down in the last shower. It's more than apparent most of them are more familiar with Voyager or TNG than with TOS anyway.
The only things I didn't like were:
-Spock and Uhura. I still haven't stopped laughing.
-Zoe Saldana being a bit of a crappy Uhura (imo).

Not quite. Scotty was able to beam Spock and Kirk on to the Narada with no placement problems, and they were doing that all the way from Saturn. The only real issue is that Scotty didn't know there would be any Romulans where he was transporting them.
yes, I know, I am female but I love me a meaty space battle. please, Paramount, give us a good one next time.
