What did you think of the Jury Duty Lady?

Her own explanation was quite rational, though flawed:

1. Her chapter is service oriented.

2. She wears the uniform to make everyone aware she is part of the chapter WHENEVER she does community service. Also, (as of Trekkers II), on casual Fridays at work.

3. There is no other evidence that she is in need of psychological help. She has a real job, and is liked by her employer and customers.

Having recently designated Sundays at work as "dress as weird as you want" days, I am kinda wishing I had a Trek uniform to wear. However, I suspect that none of our customers would know what it was. Likely they would just think that I was dressed in a slightly less eccentric manner than is my norm. I do wish I had a Trek car, though. That would be fun. (But first I would have to remove all the Hello Kitty stuff.)

I think the break between the somewhat rational "wearing your colors" and the irrational "call the nice young men in their clean white suits" is the fact that she's carrying a toy tricorder and a toy weapon into court, presumeably as if they're real.

Also, if she can carry a toy phaser into court, why can't I carry a toy Baretta 92?

You know, IDIC is one thing. But Star Trek also espouses showing respect for the culture and customs of others. Showing up in the uniform from a fictional TV show along with a toy tricorder and phaser is being highly disrespectful, both to the court and to the person who's very freedom is at stake through the trial.

Hear, hear...
