What did you learn today?

I learned just how sweet pineapple that registers at 16 on the Brix scale can be.

That taking the afternoon off of work because my daughter is ill is pretty neat (not that I like having my daughter be sick).

I learned the US government truly is stupid. My job is moving to another Army post. The govt is moving my things for me and will store them up to 90 days FREE OF CHARGE until I find a place to live at my new area.

Well I get FREE 90 STORAGE PAID FOR BY THE US GOVT, but the IRS wants me to pay taxes on it after 30 days. The finance people in charge said they have no clue how to charge taxes on a free service provided by the US govt, but the IRS wants their money, but can't be paid because there is no money involved. Right now the IRS is trying t scheme on how to make us pay taxes on income from the govt storing our house hold goods for free.

How the OSI model relates to TCP/IP (sort of). Also how to add a user to Cisco VOIP server.

I learned that the company I work for has even less of a soul than I previously thought.

I learned that my job is probably going to cause my first real stroke.

Ditto. I didn't get home until 11:30 tonight because our CEO wanted all of us to move entries around in our timesheets from October 2009 to September 2010 to improve our chances of getting a government grant that we probably won't get anyway. It took me three hours.

I also learned how to vary the sort columns in an SQL stored procedure according to the contents of one of its parameters, and that our junior network admin thinks it's perfectly okay to install an older version of Outlook on a computer without removing the newer version first (and yes, the newer version needed to be replaced so that an application would work).
