What Day Will You Go Watch STXI?...

K'riq Sa

What day will you go watch the movie in the theater? The offical day is Friday May 8th, but the Cinerama Dome, in Hollywood always has the first show at midnight Thursday, which is usually what I go to, especially for big blockbuster movies. Why?

1. You get to see the show before most mundanes.
2. By being a midnight show, very few kids.
3. Usually, one of the cast members shows up and introduces the movie. I went there for the last Spiderman and Toby McGuire introduced the movie.

1) I think there's already a thread on this

2) Can we stop with the "mundanes" shit already ?

3) I'll see it a few days after the premiere so that the I'm spared the more annoying of the people going to see it.

Official opening day since it will be the first Trek film I will take my kids to see...however, they will be well behaved.

Yeah -- put me in the theater with the so-called "mundanes" (I'll feel right at home). I find that to be a more enjoyable movie-going experience.

I will see the opening weekend Saturday or Sunday Matinees so I won't have to battle crazed fans for a seat. The early day-time matinees (say around NOON) should have a decent crowd, but not overly-crowded -- especially if May 9th or 10th are nice spring days here in Pennsylvania.

I believe you...it's those other damn kids ;)

I'll be there at midnight, if it is available. If I enjoy it I'll be going again that day with some friends (and more than likely family) who doesn't want to go to the midnight show. :techman:

I somewhat, called myself looking.

Jeezus, calm down. it's an endearing term, used by various groups to denote others, who are not necessarily fans or members of what ever group/theme is involved, and is nothing to get all bent out of shape about, bro. really.

That was all I asked. tank you....

the second it opens in york i will b there. i don't care about crowds i need 2 see this film. i was the same with the first movie. i took the day off work, went to the friday opening at the odeon in walsall, west mids and watched all three showings.sad but true. After years with no new treks i had to overload myself with a viewing to enjoy,1 to review and one to work out all that they had got wrong.the uniform designer should have been shot,no colour.but at least it brought back the series.

There was -- at least one -- but I don't think it's been active for a few weeks, and besides, I find K'riq's post signoffs amusing.

While there have been those who use the term in an effort to belittle, irritate or antagonize, I do not believe that this is such a case -- not really his style.

I'll probably also be waiting until the crowds go down. With the way things are at home, planning a firm date can be difficult and all of the theaters likely to be having midnight openings are many miles from here, anyway. I don't really care for long drives in the middle of the night any more, so a weekday matinee showing somewhere closer sounds the best bet.

I hear ya, my Trek brutha!

That's why I always grab the BACK row -- right next to the projection booth! It's the safest seat in da house!

I'll see it sometime during the first week or two that it's out, but most definitely not the first day. More than likely, it will be 'the first day my nephews are successful in getting me to take them'. Which will be a matinee showing on a Saturday or Sunday....either the first or second weekend.

I'm not interested in sitting shoulder to shoulder with a mob of crazies on opening day.

The mob of crazies is part of the fun moviegoing experience.

That, and sloshing through the cine-muck to get to your seat.

And you haven't lived until you've seen a movie with someone talking at the screen through the WHOLE FILM -- in the seat behind you!!! Or the ever-wonderful kids kicking the back of your seat repeatedly...

But nothing compares to the time I went to see Star Trek VI and was mooned by a gi-normous BUTT CRACK that eclipsed the whole movie screen!

Oh what bliss!

Sure ya don't wanna be there on opening night?

I am an IMAX projectionist so I guess the first time I'll see it is when I preview it a few days before it opens, in an empty theater. Always preview the prints we build so we can catch any splice or audio errors.

Then of course I'll be watching it everyday I work from the portglass window.

Tempting as you make all of that sound.....erm....no.

And I was originally only thinking about the annoying kiddies kicking my seat.
