What day is YOUR day?

Are there any days during the year that are YOURS? Meaning, are there any days where you always know you're going to have plans, where you always know you won't be able to go into work, that you could request off for every year to come?

For me, Halloween, New Years, and Tribond Triangle*.

These are three days that my friends and I always get together. I don't necessarily know what I'm going to be doing, but I know who I will be with, and I know that I can never make any other plans. These are OUR days, the rest of the world be damned.

*Tribond Triangle: Tony, Bobby, and myself all have April birthdays. Instead of celebrating them individually, we pick one day every April to get together and have a joint celebration. The name arose when Tony got really drunk during (what would come to be) the very first Tribond Triangle celebration. He rambled drunkenly for a while, trying to find a way to describe the friendship we had. He tripped over his own tongue, and out came the sentence, "We're like a Tri...Tribond Triangle!" He was so drunk and proud of himself, and we were so baffled by it, that the name just kind of stuck around. Now it's simply a part of our normal vocabulary.

I don't have days that are just mine, something/someone always messes it up.

Boxing Day is my day. Holiday Concert is out of the way, Christmas gigs are finished, and it's my day to relax.

Thanksgiving weekend is a big one for my family. We usually all are together.

That's about it.

Halloween and Christmas for me. Both are very much booked well in advance for family and parties. The rest I could care less about. Most I don't even celebrate or even remember to celebrate. That goes for my birthday as well.

Christmas and Father's Day, but I never have to ask for them off since the first is always a holiday and the second always falls on a weekend. I used to always take my birthday off, but since I gave it to my first child 24 years ago it's been her day, not mine.

Don't have any days. My family has always gotten together when schedules allow, not on traditionally designated days. My friends are absolute crap about keeping plans. To be fair they're busy people, but I'm getting to the point of just not making plans with them anymore.

I NEVER work in the days between Christmas and New Years. I often also don't work for a few days before Christmas.

MY day is yet to come.
*gulp*

Do the words "Overlord" "GNYAAARGH!" "NO! NOT THE FRUIT!" and "Puny scum! MUHAHAHA!" feature in this..."day"...of yours in any way at all?

:D

As for me and any days what are mine and mine alone - umm...I'll get back to you on that.

Well, the major holidays are booked for family. For myself, the Fourth Of July and Halloween are my days. The first I spend in a Marathon of Revolutionary War-Era books and shows, and the second I spend in a Marathon of Monsterific books and shows.

Oh, I forgot Easter! Though we haven't done it as consistently as the other days, my friends and I typically like to get together on Easter and have a "Band of Brothers" marathon.

My days are Oct 26th-Nov 3rd for various reasons, one of which is Halloween, another is All Saints Day, and 2 other "anniversaries" during that week.

We used to throw legendary Superbowl parties every year, people would start asking about them in October. Sadly that tailed off after we moved and most people we know are foreign and couldn't pick a football out of a sporting goods store.

Feb. 1
May 21
Nov. 21
Dec. 8

Those are my days. I always do the same things on those days.

Every day is my day.

Especially Sundays during football season. You will find me in my La-Z-Boy with the NFL Sunday Ticket, which I love like a woman.

Oddly Thanksgiving weekend is like that for me. Ever since I moved to a different state, I still see the family over Christmas and usually one other time during the year, but Thanksgiving is just for me. I make a nice meal, then lounge around the house eating for the next few days. PS- I like Turkey.

Christmas and my birthday are days when I make sure I have the whole day (if not the preceding days as well) all to myself. I LOVE Christmas and want to make sure that I can actually enjoy it with my family.
