The Missus and I was having a chat and John Candy came up. I asked her what movies he could have done if he had lived. She thought John Candy would have made a good Katz if a movie based on A walk in the woods right after the book first came out (1998).
John Candy would be only a few years older than Bill Bryson and Katz when they did the hike, compared to Nick Nolte who was already well into his 70s when he played Katz. I thought for a moment and I think he could have done it.
Personally, I think the contemporary actors that would have pulled it off well are Matt Damon (Bryson) and Jack Black (Katz).
Any thoughts. I'm trying to think of another movies. But I haven't really followed movies in a long while. Maybe Jar Jar Binks' voice.
