What clss of ship is NEW enterprise

Wrong, the war core ejection hatches close after the core flies out. That happens on every federation ship. Stick to JJtrek stuff, I'll stick the real Star Trek.
Yes, you clearly embody all the best things about "real" Star Trek. Is acting like this what the "life lessons" of Trek taught you to do?

Please don't feed. The best response to a post like that is none at all.

It is still a Constitution Class Heavy Cruiser, same as in original series and films.

Since we've settled the OP question, what would your reactions (good, bad, or indifferent) have been had they opted to call it a different class?

Id have been indifferent had they changed it. It's a lot bigger than the original (from 289m to 725), built years later (2245 is the conjectural date for the original's launch, the new one in 2258) and after a 20 year timeline divergeance. It is nice that they kept it the same, though.

For me, it's a difference that makes no difference. Maybe I'm just use to their being more than one Enterprise (A,B,C, D, E, NX-01) but I've never been overly concerned as to what they call the class of the ship.

Why does it say "San Francisco Fleet Yards" instead of "Iowa Cornfields?"

Probably in reference to the TOS Plaque.

I rationalize it as being effectively the "George Samuel Kirk Memorial (Riverside) Annex of the San Francisco Yards".

Actually, it harkens back to seagoing vessels for a long time. Ships can have a registry from the main office or a port where the ship is given final inspection.

One example is the Titanic. She was built in Belfast and launched from Southampton. The White Star Line offices were in Liverpool, so she was registered as a vessel out of Liverpool.

Apologies Austen_Pierce only just noticed your question.

I would not have minded at all really, I have never had an issue with the NuEnterprise size as it is a reboot and thus a new start with a timeline which is later than the original series.

From the prequel comics it seems there was a USS Enterprise before the current 725m version commanded by Captain Robert April, would be interested to find out what class and size that was and how it differs from the current 725m version.

I wouldn't have minded. The class name isn't important (we've had 6 canon ships of different classes with the name Enterprise) and it would even be cool if they gave another name to distinguish it as another Enterprise.

You know what class name would be cool? Enterprise class. :) It would be a nicely symbolic of this being the first USS Enterprise in this timeline.

It isn't the first Enterprise in this timeline its the second according to the STID Prequel comic.

No worries. Wasn't Robert April the first captain of the TOS Enterprise, before Pike and Kirk?

Enterprise class is a good idea. Might have also been nice to have the class named for a deceased TOS actor.

Yes I believe he was, tbh I would have been quite happy if the NuEnterprise had been sacrificed to defeat Khan, a renamed USS Vengeance would have been awesome as the focus for the next films, you cant top bo**ock lasers.

There is a 1 year gap between the Vengeance battle and the inauguration at the end of the film which is plenty of time for some nice juicy Vengeance class upgrades to the NuEnterprise.

Here's a related point: In the first movie, I got the impression that the Enterprise was a brand new type of ship, basically that there are none like her. Is that an accurate assessment, or is there presumably a USS Constitution out there somewhere? Personally, I wouldn't mind if there isn't a USS Constitution, since historically ship classes around the world aren't necessarily named after the first ship of the class.

April's Enterprise has confused me since I read the comics. Creating an "Enterprise" is a significant thing and I really don't think they should have just slotted another one between the NX-01 and the new NCC-1701. Still, doesn't bother me too much. :p

Hard to say at this point really, we don't even know what class or size the first USS Enterprise was in this timeline.

Ship classes in Star Trek are normally named after the first of the line (defiant/sovereign/constitution etc) so I would expect there to have been a USS Constitution, that is how it was in the TOS and films, there is no way to know for sure

As King Daniel said there is a 20 year difference between TOS Enterprise and NuEnterprise so they had to do something with the gap, an earlier version of the USS Enterprise piloted by Captain Robert April is as good a way as any.

Beat me to it! I haven't read the prequel comic, but April is a big name for fans, and I'm happy they addressed it, rather than erasing his name from this timeline.
