What clss of ship is NEW enterprise

starbuck

Captain
Captain
Not sure if this has been asked before, but what class is this ship its not a Constitution class,as i just seen a clip on behind the scenes and the Enterpriise dedication plaque just says starship class?

It's Constitution class.
Screenshot from STID, when Khan is about to beam the torpedoes to the Vengeace.

The official website for the new movie and the special feature "starship dossier" on the bluray both list her as a Constitution Class starship, the readouts from Into Darkness might have confirmation but I haven't seen them high enough resolution to see.

Edit: Ninja'd

Cheers for that ,just thought they would have put her on the plaque suppose take up space lol

It is still a Constitution Class Heavy Cruiser, same as in original series and films.

Of course, this plaque is from the first movie (didn't really see it STiD, but then again, you couldn't really see it inthe 09 Trek film except maybe at the end, when Spock comes onto the bridge to ask to be first officer)

Why does it say "San Francisco Fleet Yards" instead of "Iowa Cornfields?"

It's the same in name only, this new ship has nothing in common with the original. This new Enterprise is a 20th century version of the ship, no forcefields and heavy use of transportation craft, just like a 20th century ship.

If there were no forcefields, Scotty and the engineering crew would have been blasted out into space during the warp core ejection sequence at the end of XI. And that same engine room would have been in vaccum following the breach at the start of the Vengeance attack in ID, when it obviously wasnt.

And I'd love to have had that cool brig glass in the 20th century!

Scotty didn't get sucked out because he's plot shielded from death. The eject hatches appeared to open and close after the core modules flew out. There are no forcefields on this new ship, none at all.

They used shuttles quite a bit in TOS as well.

There were none on the TOS Enterprise either.

Probably in reference to the TOS Plaque.

Have you even seen TOS? They used transporters 95% of the time. The brigs had forcefields and so did any hull breaches.

Rewatch it, the hatches remained open during and after the ejection. And you ignore what I said about the breach in Into Darkness - engineering was still pressurized during Kirk and Scotty's Trek through on the way to the warp core.

And once again - show me something like that brig glass in the 20th century. Or even on TOS for that matter. Or TNG.

Wrong, the warp core ejection hatches close after the core flies out. That happens on every federation ship. Stick to JJtrek stuff, I'll stick the real Star Trek.

What the Hell is a 'war core'? Since you're flaming other posters for typos.
