Look like it's above Chavez Ravine and Dodger Stadium given the angle there. Nice shot. Very mysterious with the green haze.

I'm ashamed to admit I didn't recognize it right off -- and I friggin' live in L.A.! Born and raised here too.

Recognized it as LA right off the bat, even though I've never been there.

But I did just finish rewatching "Angel," so that may have helped... :p

fog, rather, I'd say. This is the half of LA closer to the sea where there's always a bit of wind and therefore only a very thin haze of smog (if ever)

Nah, that's downtown LA in the background there, a little over 15 miles (~24 kilometers) inland from the beach at Santa Monica, which would be way off the photo to the left.

There's still occasional smog days, but it's not nearly as bad as it used to be. I used to always have red eyes and tears from the air quality there as a kid in the 80s. Unfortunately, since LA is in a big basin surrounded by mountains, unless you get rid of all conventional cars and fossil fuel-driven industry, you're going to have some smog. But you can actually see the mountains and breath the air now year-round, so it's a vast improvement over how things used to be, when that was an iffy proposition sometimes 3/4ths of the year.
