What Changes Would You Like To See In Conscience of the King

Up next this week is Kodos the Executioner and the Astral Queen.

What I would like to see is.....the Astral Queen.

I can't remember if the ship is suppose to be moving during Kirk's romantic rendezvous down at the observation deck. If it is, we better see some stars flying by in those windows we see for the first and last time. I'd also like to see the phaser beam tweaked a little at the end. Like I said, my memory of this episode is hazy, but I think the beam hits "Anton Karidian" either too early or too late.

I'd like to see the Astral Queen and a POV shot of the hangar deck during Kirk's guided tour with Lenore. I'm sure they'll clean up the cityscape seen through Leighton's window. Also the crummy SFX when Lenore shoots Karidian.

-Let's see the Astral Queen orbiting near the Enterprise in at least one shot. A good solid close up, or at the very least a brief but marginally clear shot along the lines of the new Antares in the Remastered "Charlie X."


-The city backdrop outside of the Leightons' apartment needs to be changed to look more realistic and three-dimensional. In the original, it was just a reuse of the "Mojave" painting from "The Cage."

-The stars outside the windows on the hangar bay observation deck should streak and move by, since the ship is either at warp or low impulse/space normal speed during that scene where Kirk and Lenore talk and flirt in the hallway.

And while they're at it, CBS Digital needs to dub over the dialogue that establishes Lenore's age as nineteen. A 33-year-old male starship captain making out with a 19-year-old female passenger? Tsk tsk tsk tsk...

Funny... I had a funky art book when I was a kid (still have it actually) that had paintings of future vehicles, narrated with a historical perspective. Spacecraft 2000-2100 A.D. by Stewart Cowley. It had a big swan-like civilian liner called the Interstellar Queen and I ALWAYS pictured that ship in my mind when I saw the scene with Kirk speaking with the captain of the [/i]Astral Queen.[/i]

I suppose I'll have to be a little disappointed if they show her in the revamp and she isn't how I have always imagined her. I would prefer they use a design different from the Antares however. As much as I like that design, it still looks a bit Starfleet or merchant/utilitarian-esque, and not like the civilian liner I suspect she is supposed to be.

Astral Queen is a must, and I'd really love them to use the ringship "enterprise" design in the shot....doubt they will, but I'd like it none the less.

I haven't seen this episode in a while, but if I remember correctly, doesn't Kirk send a message to the Astral Queen's captain to tell him not to come to Planet Q to pick up the Karidian Players? I don't think we'd have a chance to see the ship.

The Queen is already in orbit - Karidian's troop arrived on it, I think. Kirk just tells her captain to skip the pickup, and Kirk will take care of his passengers.
