What Changes Would You Like To See For "Shore Leave"?

But....but...they had the 1701 orbiting in the WRONG direction when compared to the original version! :wtf:  ;)

But...but...it was orbiting the RIGHT way with regards to the planet's rotation. All class M planets rotate the same direction. Except in the mirror universe. Roddenberry sez so.

Damn, I was hoping that they would change the aircraft to a Nakajima Ki-27 just to be even more obscure.

[Felix] Oscar, Oscar, Oscar....[/Felix]

Crap, I mean "Nate, Nate, Nate..."

Dammit, that makes no sense ...

(makes mental note to review code names again)

Fuuuck.

I knew he was the Great Bird Of The Galaxy but that's power!

It WAS cool for Zeon in "Patterns of Force" to get a slender ring system, though...no matter what direction it rotated and orbited.

Er ... but which direction you orbit would presumably be part of the specifications for a ``standard orbit'', so that there wouldn't be any way of telling what the rotation direction for a planet relative the galactic plane is.

I am curious why in the original effects the Enterprise orbited the reverse direction. I know they'd intended to put on reverse decals and flip the film to produce footage from the left side of the ship, but really didn't get around to it. Of course, this was the first episode produced after the break from the schedule pressure they got from using ``The Menagerie''; maybe this was just the first time they had the spare time to do the footage, and had intended to use it to widen the array of stock footage?

Or, alternatively, given the reference to Alice in Wonderland to start things off, were they free-associating naturally to the looking-glass and setting the ship in the ``wrong'' direction as a visual cue that things were going to be strange and dream-logical?

I know we're past it, but this is the first chance I've had to reply. Regarding the airplane(s): I suppose it's possible that Rodriguez was simply thinking about a WWII vintage plane that shifted from an AT-6 to a Hellcat.

So at the end of this episode, Kirk indicates that he's going to spend more time with Ruth. Did he really want to "make it" with a robot?

In the long shot, there are two planes. Maybe there was one of each?

Too bad Rodriguez wasn't daydreaming about an F-104 Starfighter. That would have been hellakewl.

Kirk would make it with a tree if it had a knothole.

The guy tried to nail Kelinda from the Kelvans. And in her real form, she had a hundred small tentacles. ;)

Yeah, but a hundred small tentacles...imagine the possibilities...

It'd be the most intense handjob EVER.

Or would that be a "tentacle job"? Either way, nailing an alien octopus can't be completely without its creepy aspects.

Didn't seem so bad in Galaxy Quest.

Suction cups, man. Suction cups!

I don't know... I like to think there are some things that Kirk would leaf alone.

And that's the root of his problem. If only he would just stick with his own species...

^
Yeah. But then, he'd never be able to brag he nailed an alien slave chick with green hair and a shiny tinfoil bikini.
