Paris would sleep with four hundred men.

And Uhura.

Paris complained that she got a rash from the sheets on her cot at the county jail but the sheets said no, they got a rash from Paris.

Paris Hilton's cooch would make a laboratory vial of gonorrhea quiver in fear.

Too bad they probably won't change the colony matte and not reuse the Delta Vega one. Didn't anyone else ever wonder why a penal colony needed that vast field of tanks stretching off into the distance?

Well, if the colony is supposed to be self supporting, they probably need a fuel supply. Even on my college campus they had coal and a coal fired power plant in the middle of the campus. And that's in a city. Imagine having a colony away from civilization -- you'd definately need fuel and possibly hydroponics.

And Prozac. Lots and lots of prozac.

heh. Well, it looks like they are updating the matte after all. Startrek.com has a nice image of it, and trekmovie.com is reporting it.

Re: What Changes Would You Like To See For "Dagger of the Mi

Interesting. I didn't think they'd go that far based on what they'd done to date.

Re: What Changes Would You Like To See For "Dagger of the Mi

I'm glad the painting is being changed. Never made much sense for a penal colony dealing in mental disorders to look like an industrial or mining plant.

Re: What Changes Would You Like To See For "Dagger of the Mi

Part of the therapy was working the dilithium mines.

Re: What Changes Would You Like To See For "Dagger of the Mi

I just figured the colony's force field required a lot of power.

Re: What Changes Would You Like To See For "Dagger of the Mi

A new matte painting instead of the re-used WNMHGB matte...oh wait, they did....

Re: What Changes Would You Like To See For "Dagger of the Mi

Well, I got what I wished for (besides a scene with a nude Marta). I'm happy.

Re: What Changes Would You Like To See For "Dagger of the Mi

I love the rings visible from the surface(a Trek first?) ...But what the devil are those big blue-gray things scattered all around the plateau? Trees or giant seed pods or something? Or maybe something having to do with security? Weird.

Re: What Changes Would You Like To See For "Dagger of the Mi

Like others have said more, MUCH more shots of Helen Noel. Especially ones where she's climbing in and out of air shafts.

I can imagine filming this episode took quite a long time, they kept having to reshoot the Helen Noel scenes over and over again for some reason.

I think they should digitally replace Helen Noel with Nurse Chapel, just so I can stop seeing these endless Helen Noel threads.

If that were true, then I would LOVE to get my hands on all of the unused footage! :D

Someone at trekmovie.com theorized that it's a force field security fence. Their explanation went like this: If an inmate somehow escapes to the surface, the fence will keep them in. And if they somehow make it past the force field fence, it looks like the whole thing is sitting on top of a steep mesa.

Sounds fairly plausible to me.

Re: What Changes Would You Like To See For "Dagger of the Mi

No, not the fence. That's obvious. It's the blue things on the side of the mesa. What are those? I think they are giant cockroaches. Enormous, man-eating cockroaches. Just another level of security.

Are we talking about the same things? I probably should have said below the plateau instead of around it. Sounds like you are talking about the tall lamp posty things which I surmised were part of the force field fence (the same field the transporter operator was trying to beam through.) But all around the mesa's incline and craggy outcroppings are these very organic looking shapes. They've updated with an even bigger image now and they definately look like some sort of plant life. I like Gary Mitchell's suggestion that they are trifids. :D Had to look that one up, but what better security than plants that eat you if you try to climb down the mountain!

EDIT: Whoops. Outpost4 beat me to it!

Hey, it's TrekBBS. Any question worth asking is worth asking twice. :D

Re: What Changes Would You Like To See For "Dagger of the Mi

They look more like man-eating blue corn on the cob.

OH! You can blame the poor image quality of that picture RAMA posted. This one is much sharper, and those are clearly plants.
