What Changes Would You Have For "LTBYLB"?

AC84

Captain
Captain
Not many changes to be made other than the space shots and that's probably the only thing they did.

I don't know, I liked the stock footage. It made it seem visceral and pounded home the obviously contemporary nature of the message.

I'll be interested to see if they try to sneek in a look of the invisible alien spaceship, however.

"Invisible" could just be a euphemism for "cloaked", in which case they could work in a very slight distortion field if they're artistic about it.

I'm pretty sure they were called invisible in the dialogue, but admittedly it's been a while. Naturally, people are at liberty to define that any way they wish.

I have no problem with the superimposed images of burning buildings while Bele and Lokai blindly stumble through the Enterprise's corridors. As far as I'm concerned, that's one of the best (and very patently '60's) images of that ep. I say: change it only if you can superimpose even better imagery of the same thing, otherwise, leave it be.

I think they can have some fun with the Enterprise at Warp 10, if they show some imagination.

It would really be neat if the orbital shots of Cheron could show massive devastation of coastal cities from space. That could be a powerful new image to show.

It would be neat if they could also touch-up the self-destruct sequence. The strangely musical nature of the computer during that Cold War-ish ritual was always fascinating to watch. If they can improve the destruct graphics on the panels a bit, that would be a nice touch.

The decontamination of Ariannus will also be a challenge to re-FX. Believe it or not, I'm very fond of the old FX.

Of course the stolen shuttle will have to have different markings than the Galileo.

Gorshin/Belai : Can't you see? We've got stars upon ours!

Lokai : Ask him, Captain. Ask them about how slaves were marked by having the stars upon ours removed! We were feathered and tarred, and then we were de-starred!

Belai : A mere racial legend! We have always had, and have always been glad, for the stars upon ours.

Kirk : Doctor Seuss--your opinion?

Kirk : BUT... your both.... the same....

Belai : No were not, i'm right handed and he's left handed.....

McCoy : For the love of.....

Lokai : Left handers are slaves on our world, we don't even have a pair of siccors to cut with....

Spock : Really ?

^ Ever seen the TOS episode "Let That Be Your Last Battlefield ?"

* If not then the exchange I just did won't make a lick of logic *

That at some point in the episode the boys are served those tasty black and white cookies. Just for a reaction, of course.

... The cuts to this one will be murder for me. Why? The dialog. I love this episode.

I love how this episodes dialog showed how Beal and Loki were too extremes. It wasn't ALL about race, it was their fundamentalism. They were both convinced their views were so pure that anything was justified to attack the other. Racial purity was, well, the obvious part.

Having said that, and though I haven't seen this ep in a few years, I was always impressed by the FX in this one. Beal's personal force field is definitely impressive.

I'd love to know the actual origin of the burning buildings. Some random fire? London in the war? Any stock footage geeks out there?

I don't believe the burning buildings will be changed. It would take original elements without the superimposed buildings to replace it and not take an eternity. (like the corridor newspaper spin effect in Alternative Factor)

I do hope they show a new shot of the charred Charon landscape
