What Changes Would You Have For "A Taste of Armageddon"?

AC84

Not an effects heavy episode, but it could be. Aside from the space shots and mattes...

My Christmas list:

* For god's sake, put an actual futuristic radar/sensor-like display on those giant display screens. Nothing too fancy, just update them a little. Something similar to Battlestar Galactica's DRADIS screen.

* A transparent, almost water-like beam emitting from the sonic disruptors.

....that's about it. :)

Seriously. Fix those cheesy Eminiar war computers and their displays. You can actually see the backlit light wobble back and forth in one shot as if someone accidentally bumped into the bulb or made it vibrate behind the set.

I know this may sound strange, but there's one special effect I enjoyed about TNG: the orbital shots of the Enterprise-D above a planet. I don't see why they couldn't do something similar for TOS-R.

^Because the 1701-D would look out of place in a TOS-R episode, that's why. ;)

Considering Return Of The Archons lacked a planetary attack visual, I'd be miffed if we didn't see some action here this time.

Wonderful episode too, with some added CGI I think this ep would be a fricken' blast. General Order 24 Scotty! In two hours! TWO HOURS!!!

^ LOL ! ^

Seriously, yea, fix the 'radar' screens please ?
Pretty please with sugar on it ?

I love those, they look fine if you ask me. Yea, it's cheezy by todays standards, but it was a great set piece. I love seeing it every time!

I love what the CBS-CGI team has chosen to CGI and what to leave alone. They definitely get it right more often than not. A better record than around here... I can't believe TGT hasn't ripped a few heads off by now.

This is a personal favourite of mine, it makes my top ten list.

So all I'm asking for is no changes that screw things up. :)

Leave the cheap old computers as they were. Now an orbital pre-attack sequence, maybe...
I expect the orbital sequence from different prespectives.

I say leave the computers in this episode as they are (ditto the Landru computer, the Beta 5, the M5 Multitronic, etc). It's an alien computer three hundred years in the future. It could look like a bowl of pudding for all I care. What do you expect to see, Dell laptops?

Some sort of smash cut featuring an attack on the Enterprise would be nice.

TGT is going to have his hands full juggling an unanticipated spike in both academic and professional obligations over the next few months, so his active presence at TrekBBS.com will effectively drop to zero into the foreseeable future.

*waits for the deafening applause to subside*

That being said, the tidal waves of acute nausea generated by the devastating triple-whammy of ST:TMP-TDE, TOS-R and now J.J. Abrams' - J.J. ABRAMS for Perun's sake! - ST:XI have truly worn my interest in Star Trek down to the nub over these past six years. Life is far too short to waste time developing stomach ulcers because the Hollywood screwflies responsible for these perversions cannot help but execute their parasitic biological imperatives. One may as well go down to the beach and contemplate a crab that has been exposed to the Sacculina carcini organism, but I have absolutely no interest in doing either. Fuck 'em all.

Okuda ought to have some kind of vibrating distortion wave come up from Eminiar and hit the Enterprise, jostling and shaking her. Maybe even show a brief CGI shot of an Eminian weapon shooting upwards from the surface.

We didn't get anything for the 'heat beams' in Return of the Archons; so I doubt they'll do anything like that for A Taste of Armageddon; although for BOTH of the episodes they should have added SOMETHING to match the respective dialog.

True, but the Remastered changes have been somewhat odd and inconsistent as well. Some episodes that needed(badly)changes didn't get them, while background shots most people wouldn't notice in others got tweaked and altered a little. Who knows. Anything can happen, depending on what Okuda does or doesn't want to do in any given week.

Surprised this one hasn't been mentioned.

CGI a multi-legged creature on the shoulder of the dude that Spock neck-pinches.

Umm, you do realize it was just a ploy by Spock, right? ;)
