What Best Describes Your Job? (Attempt 2)

I work in an office, sitting down. My job can be challenging at times, but I wouldn't call it "hard". I have my own work, but overall we work as a team. I should get paid more, but its academia so that's to be expected and the benefits make up for it. My work is not physically tiring and I work average hours.

I work for the US govt and I can thank Bush's incompetence for my job. When this moron invaded Iraq and the years that followed, the Army was low on Soldiers and their recruiting was hurting so Bush and friends decided to replace non-essential soldiers with civilians and *Presto* my job magically appeared.

I basically sit around and surf the net all day and talk smack with soldiers. I probably do about 1 hour of work a day.

I work indoors, standing up, on a team. The hours vary. They can be really long or really short. I am getting almost criminally screwed with my wages. I know for a fact I could go to any other store in the chain an make more than I do right now at a lower position. And since I'm on my feet all day and running around, the job is quite tiring.

Um...sounds awesome. :(

I work at home sat down (Management consultancy/management services). I own the business so if I don't get paid enough there is no-one to complain to....

I usually work inside, though we take some field trips.

I rarely sit down, and never longer than five minutes. Movement and dance are part of my program, I do yoga every day as part of my work.

My job is hard. I'm expected to raise the objective test scores and subjective assessment scores of 150 kindergarten through second grade students to levels statistically significantly above their peers, in 26 literacy skills.

I work as a team; I count my students as my team members.

I am paid well, I think I'm worth a bit more, but at $50/hour I'm not complaining. I know I would've gotten a raise if not for the economy.

My job is tiring. It's very physical, but I'm in good shape so that's only a problem if I'm not feeling well (it's very hard to do yoga with a class of special needs kindergarteners when you have a headache). Mostly it's emotionally tiring -- but rewarding, too.

I work short hours. 14 hours a week on the job, plus another 2-4 in lesson planning. It leaves time for my other job -- the one that doesn't pay...yet.

Let's see, I mostly work inside, but sometimes my job takes me outside

When things are busy, I work standing up, although I do have considerable paper to push through

My job is hard, most people could not/would not do it

Although my boss would like to think we are a team, that is only partly true

Once again depending on how busy it is, my job can be extraordinarly tiring..and I am always glad when it is the end of a workday

I get paid enough, although I know some people get paid more, and I work long hours with on call and call back

I chose everything except "My job is tiring."

Half the time I'm inside, half outside.

When I'm in the store, I'm standing. On deliveries, I'm mostly sitting in my car.

Most of the time my job is really easy, but sometimes, like when we get major ice storms or snow storms, I have to drive for six hours when most people won't even leave their house because the roads are so terrible.

I work on my own half the time, being in my car, and when I'm in the store, I'm working with others.

I get paid minimum wage, but I also make tips. Sometimes people are giant assholes and I carry over $100 of pizza, soda, etc up three flights of stairs, making several trips, all while keeping up a friendly demeanor, and I get no tip at all. Other times, like New Year's Eve, I made a $20 tip on a $25 order.

Sometimes I'm at work for ten hours...sometimes I'm there for two.

Inside, sitting down, sometimes on my own, sometimes as part of a team. Job is fairly straightforward, because of education/training/experience, though is very complex in absolute terms. Average level of hours/tiring so didn't tick either option.

I definitely feel I don't get paid enough though. Triple my salary, and that would come close to accurately valuing the complexity, the risk undertook, and the degree of thought involved.

Inside - I work in retail.

Standing up - we don't often get to sit down for more then a minute here and there, unless we're doing a lot of filing in one go or we're cashing up.

Can be easy or hard - some days, you get great customers who treat you like you're a human being. Some days, you get every moany fucker under the sun and endless creepy old men who stare at your chest and call you 'sweetheart'.

In a team - there are six of us in total.

I don't get paid enough - I am on minimum wage and as I am a temp, I don't get commission. Given the amount of verbal abuse we get from customers (to the point of having to call the police on one once), I do NOT get paid enough for the shit we have to take.

And it is tiring.

I basically hit all of the above, save for the questions about pay because I'm content with my current salary.

I'm expected to be self-motivated yet still work often with a team, I have a desk I sit at yet am constantly on-the-move, I have very easy aspects of my job and challenging ones (though that makes it fun), it can be tiring but also exhilarating, I mostly work inside but end up outside often and my hours vary from a regular 40/week to sometimes 80/week in the summers.

I love my job. :)

Exactly what he said. Except a lot of the time I'm standing up too. We're never on our own. And the hours are of course long at any level.

But I wouldn't trade it for anything else. Except perhaps a similar job with better pay. :bolian:
