None of the novels (except for The Needs of the Many) take STO into account, so I see no particular reason to care about anything that STO says.
Nimbus III may be a worthless lump of rock, but it does have one, unique treasure.
I love that line.
I thought Laurence Luckinbill/Sybok got a raw deal. Luckinbill did the character justice, but it's a shame the movie didn't work out as well as was hoped.
I wonder whether Connery's involvement might have convinced TPTB to put more effort into the film in general. Who knows what might have been at that point...
There may be a special provision that allows Nimbus III to be the only planet in the Neutral Zone where Federation, Klingon, and Romulans can meet. It could be strategically unimportant to all three (a hind corner to nowhere).^ That would make sense, except the movie mentioned a few times that Nimbus was in the "Neutral Zone"... it just didn't mention which one.
I would guess the Klingon Neutral Zone, though, since IIRC both the Federation and the Romulan were prohibited from entering the RNZ, but it seems that entering the Klingon Neutral Zone is allowed.
