What are your opinions regarding Star Trek that are, shall we say, unorthodox?

A good question is where is the line between something being fun or a joke?
It's fun when the universe is serious and the characters are able to joke.
It's a joke when the universe is fun and the characters take it seriously.

On the William Shatner scale, fun is Star Trek II, a joke is Airplane II.

I don’t think the line is that clear cut.
Art is an art, not a science, so it's hard to really pin this stuff down in a way that works for every situation. Though I'm sure there are some great 1 hour YouTube videos on the subject I could hunt down if I'm ever curious to see what other people have come up with.

My unorthodox Star Trek opinion is that any animated Batman series or movie with Kevin Conroy's voice is typically going to be pretty good, and most of the ones without him are good too. I've been watching through them all recently and they rarely disappoint.

Though Batman: Caped Crusader was a bit 'off' to me somehow.

Although TWOK has one of my absolute favorite Trek jokes, when McCoy is distressed about potentially beaming into the unknown and Kirk tells him it will finally be his chance to get away from it all.
