What are your opinions regarding Star Trek that are, shall we say, unorthodox?

Kes was probably based on Princess Peach/Zelda. Video games were really hitting their pop culture stride, at the time. Isn't a reach to think the creators might have been influenced by them.

ALL TNG films were mediocre to horrible. The characters, especially Picard, didn’t seem consistent with their TV show iteration. It felt like Picard was being written to be a space version of John McClane (die hard)

I agree that the movies seem to have changed Picard's character in a way I didn't care for, though I do really enjoy First Contact.

Well damn.....

I've always said that FC is overrated because even thought it is top two amazingly produced/directed/edited/made Star Trek movie.... Like TWOK it's basically a generic action movie with a Star Trek sauce poured over it.
But..... YES!!! It is small. In the end, nothing really happened. I'm guessing that a lot of ships got blown up but considering DS9 the Fleet is HUUUUUUUUUUGE and we can spare a few ships.
But everything is reset to the status quo....

Insurrection had things open..... Nemesis as well. Even though we found out later, even Generations had a 'where will our heroes go?' going on.

But First Contact was just 'that's It'. Nothing more.
