What are your opinions regarding Star Trek that are, shall we say, unorthodox?

They wreaked so much havoc on the Klingon Empire that an armada was sent to destroy the Tribble Homeworld. If they can make Klingons that angry and scared they could bring much more passive galactic powers to their knees.
Exactly!

Tribbles, the truly terrifying WMD that also happens to be very cute, but very deadly in the right hands.

Tribbles are aliens modified with human DNA which means that humans are one of the two species in the universe who cannot consume Tribble meat without experiencing the terrifying side effects of cannibalism.

If Tribbles are Humans, then any treaties Earthmen may have with the rest of the galaxy, including themselves, that bans the consumption and enslavement of mankind, covers Tribbles too.

There's probably been enough horizontal gene transfer already that a small amount of human DNA has gotten into some animal we've eaten. Something like 25% of cow DNA is possibly reptillian from horizontal transfer, so who knows, maybe a little human got in there already or will. cows and humans are both relatively new on the block.

edit: so now Barclay turning into a spider no longer doesn't make sense, I guess.

CBS live-action Trek has this weird effect on me and I'm not sure I'd want to repeat it. I'll watch an episode, I watched "Ad Astra per Aspera" the other night quality episode with no real qualms on my part about anything. But there is no desire, once I turn it off, to watch more episodes. Just none. I usually end up back at CBS Trek because I finally remember it exists while watching one of the other shows.
