Well, I don't care for buying autographed items (what is the point?) and I generally don't see what the fuss is about autographs; it is only nice if you have a reminder that the person wrote something for you personally (which is not the case with buying autographed items - so that makes them pointless, IMO), but talking to the person, if possible, would still mean more to me than getting them to sign something for me.
I only have two autographs: one is a copy of the Husker Du "Candy Apple Grey" record that Grant Hart signed for me before a concert in 1996; the other is an autograph by LTJ Bukem, but I'm not even a fan of his, and only have it because I went to his concert with a bunch of my friends, one of whom worked as a promoter, and we got in there early, before the concert, when he signed our tickets.
