What are your favorite 'Retread' or 'Rehash' episodes?

There are over 700 hours of televised Star Trek! It's only natural that plots from previous episodes will be used again in new incarnations. From TNG to Enterprise, what are the episodes you would pick as the best? Do you think the "retread" is better than the original? Or do you see the original as superior. I'm thinking about episodes that are very similar, from beginning to end.

Here are some examples, in order of appearance:

From that list the only one that springs to mind that is better than the original is "Badda Bing..... "

I prefer Enterprise's creepy ghost story about a crashed ship, that turns out to involve holographic recreations of the crew, "Oasis", over Deep Space Nine's very similar "Shadowplay". That had Plot A about Odo and Dax befriending of a little girl and investigation of mysteriously disappearing villagers, while Plot B might've been Jake teaching Nog to read or some such.

René Aberjonois is as always, a big plus in both though.

That's a good one! Yes, those are very similar, and very good episodes.

I suppose the rehash of A Piece of the Action with The Royale isn't identical enough fore you, but in essentials it was a shameless stealing, for me. I've never known a rehash to be worth making or watching, except Voyager's war criminal one was well done enough, and it's an important enough subject to repeat.

TOS Wink of an EYe and Voyager's Blink of an Eye. Voyager's episode is way better, it's one of my favourites. Apparantly not a rehash, but just 2 episodes with very similar names which have very similar aliens.

I like the story about when Oasis was filming, Scott Bakula was chatting with Rene Auberjonois on set. Bakula commented "this is a pretty good episode, isn't it?" and Auberjonois responded "I thought so when we did it on our show."

Another one that was done really well was E2(E Squared) on ENT. It is very similar to Children of Time on DS9.

I just wanted to put 4 initial examples. One retread from each series, taken from it's direct predecessor. I think Royale is more like A Piece of the Action and Spectre of the Gun mixed together and set in a casino.

"E2" gets my vote. I much prefer it to "Children of Time", finding the characters and their motivations far more compelling. They waited 120 years to stop the Xindi. That's epic.

Not sure if this one would count (since it's not an entirely "straight" rehash, and yet it is)

The Trouble with Tribbles/Trials and Tribble-ations.

Though the TOS ep is fine, I think I prefer the DS9 version.

Measure of a man/ Author, author.

Similar theme (argument over the rights of artificial life forms either over themselves or over their works, culminating in court), but given a very different treatment. Measure goes the TNG route (philosophical), Author goes the Voyager route (less outspokenly philosopical, but with more of a focus on how it affects internal relationships on the ship, and with a good dash of humor thrown in for good measure). Both are excellent in my opinion, can't really choose one.
