What are your favorite 1-episode characters?

Berlinghoff Rasmussen. I like Matt Frewer in any role, and his underhandedness here was fun to watch.

Lt. Commander Nella Daren. It was nice to see Picard have a love interest, even if it was short lived.

Vash (technically 2 episodes). Same as above, but a more interesting character.
not 'technically' 2 episodes. she IS in two episodes. She's in quip as well.

Most of my favourites have gone, but a few that haven't come up yet:

Tam Elbrun - Harry Groener brought great feeling to such a troubled savant
Norah Satie - loved to hate Jean Simmons' performance
Nikolai Rozhenko - can't believe they got Paul Sorvino to act in Star Trek
Kevin Uxbridge - John Anderson's was excellent, especially his chilling admission ("All Husnock. Everywhere.")

It did occur to me, that Deforest Kelley, James Doohan and Leonard Nimoy all appear in precisely one episode of TNG. Can we count them? Please please?

Just about any of the characters from "The High Ground" episode (where Beverly gets kidnapped by an extreme separatist movement). They were all interesting, all compelling, and it was nice that they had Riker and Devos coordinating efforts without trying to make a romance out of it, the way so many other collaborations seemed to work, unfortunately.

That lady who plays Dr. Kila Marr in Silicon Avatar doesn't get enough credit, because the character is unlikable, but she just nails one hell of a performance

"I go home to a wife loving wife and 3 daughters every night. We have family meal together; I think that's important. They always ask me about my day."

"And what will you say to them tonight, Chancellor?"

"I will tell them that this morning I was the leader of universe as I knew it. Tonight, I am but a voice in chorus. But, I think it was a good day."

"You speak of trust and peace and working together to enter a new era, and and the same time you conduct secret surveillance posing as Malcorians."
"Commander Riker?"
"Commander Riker."
"I actually like it."
"Like it?"
"That you make mistakes, like any man."
"Chancellor, I have made some fine ones in my time."

And, a cheat. The Ba'ku.

I wouldn't want to revisit them, except maybe in dialogue. But, First Contact stories, I am a sucker for them, have written one.

Just realized that we've passed over two of the coolest, & least recognized one-off appearances on TNG, both appearing in the same episode, & representing something of a reunion of sorts.

In Symbiosis, you have Judson Scott & Merritt Butrick again on opposite sides of a conflict, as Sobi & T'Jon, much like they were in their The Wrath of Khan appearances as Joachim & David Marcus.
