What are your expectations?

How do you think the movie will turn out?

I don't expect it to be the best - even tho, for me, the best of Trek has been on TV and not movies, so it's not like that's a high hurdle.

What I want and expect is a more-than-adequate reinvigoration of the entire franchise and the beginning of big things, including a return to TV, the format that has always worked best for Trek.

....Younger hotter actors and actresses is one of your deciding factors of greatness?

Well, that's certainly...different.

It just offers the potential of financial success, without which, greatness is a moot point (and would be immensely frustrating).

I expect to be entertained by a new Star Trek film.

Right on. Same here.

Ditto. I am constantly surprised that so many offer us only two options: #1 It is the greatest film ever! or #2 I hated it worse than every other film on the planet!

Can't we just have a good time, enjoy the show, and maybe not think it was the greatest film, nor think it sucked eggs either?

I doubt it will be the worst, because clearly a lot of effort has gone into it. Unlike letting Shatner be an auteur simply because it's his turn... or Baird even though, he didn't know the first thing about TNG.

Despite that, everything since the grand Nimoy announcement has made my heart sink to one degree or another. So I expect to be alienated the minute the opening credits with hopefully some familiar music (to lull me into a false sense of security) have finished rolling.

On the one hand, I'm expecting it to be good. Perhaps not the best, but enjoyable.

But Kurtzman and Orci's credentials scare me a bit. Transformers' script sucked.

We shall see in a few months.

It will be an action packed movie. But it will retain little of the original Trek spirit. I expect little intelligence and lots of shooting.

I suspect we've seen most of the the good parts already.
What a trite thing to say.

Do you have any specific examples of the scenes we've seen so far that you think will comprise "most of the good parts"?

I voted that it will be good, but not the best -- although my "hope" (not my expectation) is that it will be the best ever.

It looks like it will be good, clean fun. Nothing more, nothing less. I'm just looking forward to seeing these adventures on the big screen again.

As a long time fan, since the very early 1970s, I haven't been this excited about a Star Trek project in years. I have this feeling we're about to see the best Trek yet.

Frankly I'm not expecting much. I am, however, hoping that it is a great and entertaining move plus a huge money maker.

If it's good, it's good.

If it's bad, it's bad.

Isn't that the bottom line?

I want it to be good, but if it sucks I'm not going to be delusional about it. On the flip side, I don't understand those who intend to hate every second of it months in advance, then go to see it (probably several times) with the intention to hate every second of it just so they can bitch and moan about how right they were.

I predict it'll be werry good but not the best cos of that ugly Enterprise sheep...I mean wessel.

That lil issue (for me it's an issue -- yah! yah!) will prevent it from reaching the levels of greatness it might have otherwise ascended to.

I voted "I don't know" because, well, I don't.
I hope it's good, I hope it's great, but I won't firmly build expectations.
