What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

That was due to the cast change. Sakai was going to go to Z'ha'dum and get brain wiped/altered. Everything we saw with Anna Sheridan would have been Sakai and possibly expected a few more appearances in seasons 2 and 3 as she came in from the Rim before they got that, but of course the whole O'hare thing happened.
That is pure speculation. I have never heard that theory before.

And anyway, it doesn't matter... it was never shown or even hinted at onscreen.

She was already poking around the Rim in the episode we saw her, sometimes stealing technology (think Vash with a small ship instead of Q). Shouldn't take a huge stretch for her to connect as a freelancer or specialist with IPX (whether or not she stayed on her own ship which seems more likely or possibly the Icarus). Or maybe Morden would have arrived on the Skydancer.

In the first place, again, that is still pure speculation.

Secondly, Sakai was looking for Quantium 40, which is used in jumpgate construction. In other words, a mining prospector... not a tech hunter or archaeologist. (Which illustrates another difference between Sakai and Yates... Yates only ran cargo.)

If you're going to bother trying to pin something DS9 did that B5 did first, at least have it be something that was actually said or shown on an episode.

That was her bread and butter. Much like Yates got wrapped up with the Maquis, what was Sakai going to do when the Narn and Centauri conflict started? Besides which she already ran into the Walkers at Sigma 957. She was likely to keep looking and/or start hunting for other First Ones.

Sure, though if O'hare doesn't leave, it's easy enough to see her and Sinclair marrying (another coincidence), then disappearing driving Sinclair to the attitude and actions Sheridan had when he sees Morden being told by Delenn and Kosh to let him go lest the Shadows attack too soon...

Even if your... and I'll say it again... SPECULATION happened, Sakai and Yates were very clearly different people.

Sakai was an only child... Kasidy had at least one brother. Sakai met Sinclair in flight school... Yates and Sisko were set up by Jake. Yates went to prison for helping the Maquis... Sakai never had any criminal record. Sakai had an on/off relationship with Sinclair for 15 years... except for her time in prison, Yates was never off her relationship with Sisko.

Yates was also a more fully developed character than Sakai. (Which, admittedly, is a given considering she appeared far more often on DS9 than Sakai on B5.)

We also have no idea what Sakai would have done during the Narn/Centauri war... she may just take it easy for a while, considering she got a big paycheck in season 1 from one of her earlier Quantium 40 prospectings.

We can only go by what actually happened, not a theory.

Too bad the thread they're referencing there seems to have been deleted.

This controversial? ;)

Wait- What?

I would LOVE to do It's Been a Long Road as karaoke. It would be a litmus test on multiple levels. Most of the crowd wouldn't care, then some of the nerds would groan, and some of them would CHEER!
I drunkenly sang it at my wedding with a bunch of my old friends. They weren't Trekkies, but they knew I loved Enterprise, so they asked the DJ to play it later into the night, after I had been well into the whisky. It was the Rod Stewart version, but it was still a fun moment.

Beyond
The rim of the star-light
My love
Is wand’ring in star-flight
I know
He’ll find in star-clustered reaches
Love,
Strange love a star woman teaches.
I know
His journey ends never
His star trek
Will go on forever.
But tell him
While he wanders his starry sea
Remember, remember me.
