What are you watching?

Saw Fright Night at the theater, and will probably watch Torchwood and the Doctor Who clip show tonight when hubby gets home.

It's such a sweet little British film, with an awesome 80s-era soundtrack and great turns from a whole bunch of familiar actors. Lovely stuff. :bolian:

It's the direction, really, that's the problem-- I think the script was okay. It was directed by Fred Olan Ray's kid, who has demonstrated in the past that he has not inherited his father's abilities. The original Megashark Versus Giant Octopus had a great campy feel in the dialogue and direction and cinematography that almost suggested something like the old Batman TV show-- this doesn't have that. Half of it is pretty much incoherent.

Thats depressing, the camp B-movie feel of the first one was largely what kept me watching it, it was funny and easy to follow if nothing else. Theres a trilogy boxset in town, so the third may well be as bad.

I didn't even know there was a third one. I'll have to research that. There was another one that had a nice campy feel to it as well: Sharktopus. I think Roger Corman did that one.

Been doing a lot of Stargate: SG-1 through Netflix, but when I got halfway through Season 3, they pulled that one to fix some audio problem that I wasn't experiencing. It's been down a week now, and can't really move on until they let me watch the 2nd half of that season... :(
