Let me ask you this. How is the question of whether I have a life, any of your business? How about if I were a handicapped person, confined to a bed, would it be OK with you if I spent lots of time, doing things that don't require walking for example? Or do you insist on knowing every detail of someone's private life before you leave him the hell alone!!!
At one point I was able to knock out a 400-500 page novel on my days off, but these days I struggle to read more than a chapter or two thanks to added work and family responsibilities.
If anyone has a problem with someone's posting style and thinks it's breaking the rules, then the way to handle it is to hit notify on their post(s) and let the mods deal with, not confront them in the thread and carry on a long argument about it. Chem, that goes for you too. No one has gotten you on any "trumped-up" charges (I spelled out the reason for your infraction in detail, and even provided screenshots), and your spamming infraction from me has no relation to this current exchange, other than both involving spamming. You were also cautioned for spamming by another mod in the TOS forum, so I think a little introspection is in order about your style of posting and the frequency of it, as we discussed in our recent PM.
I have this awful tendency to fall asleep when I read any book for more than a chapter. I'm so tired that I just can't keep myself awake to read. There was a time when I could knock out a large novel in a couple of hours. Now I struggle to get through a chapter before zonking out.
Same here. I tend to read before going to bed. Right now I'm reading book two of the Terok Nor series : Night of the Wolves.
Can you please put me on ignore as you don't want to know me? Because of various health issues including failing sight I can't spend anywhere near three and a half hours reading per day and I, unlike most of the people here, do not work. Some days, but certainly not all days or even half of all my days, I might rack up over three and a half hours of listening to a book.
The Terok Nor series is my favorite Treklit, the first one is particularly good. But the whole trilogy is awesome.
I'm reading a Scientific American article about the Rise of the Tyrannosaurs. Recent fossil finds are helping to fill in the gaps and also demonstrate the great diversity of tyrannosaur forms.
I'm currently rereading part of Gerald Posner's 1993 book Case Closed: Lee Harvey Oswald and the Assassination of JFK.
Finished The Heist by Daniel Silva. First time reading him and I'm sure I'll follow him from now on, as it was so good! Main character is a middle-eastern secret agent, written with panache remeniscent of Bond. It was a very satisfying read.
You Are Here by Chris Hadfield. Dozing off is getting to be quite a problem for me, too. I'm sure it has to do with the increased responsibilities at work and absolutely nothing to do with age. Nothing at all.
